Bolton Wanderers will live to fight another day, after a winding-up petition issued by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) was given a two-week adjournment at the High Court.
Wanderers officials were up in front of judges on Wednesday morning, with the club facing potential liquidation over unpaid tax and funds owed a number of third-party creditors.
Presenting their case, a barrister representing HMRC revealed there was five supporting creditors, including Macron - kit manufacturers and former stadium naming rights partner - who claim to be owed £194,753, while Westchurch Homes Limited - a firm who specialise in luxury property development - hold claim to £15,940.
The names of three other supporting creditors was not revealed.
Judge Clive Jones, who oversaw the events of March 2016, when Ken Anderson and Dean Holdsworth concluded a last-ditch purchase of Wanderers from the late Eddie Davies, was then advised by Hilary Stonefrost - in defence of the club - that a new bidder had surfaced late on Tuesday who had vowed to clear existing debts in full, with Heads of Terms already agreed.
Stonefrost would go on to request a two-week adjournment, which was subsequently approved by Judge Jones.
Bolton now have until April 3 to conclude a sale, pay off creditors and satisfy judges that they are a viable business moving forward.
