This series will be full of twists and turns and I think it may be more even than many think.

Fantastic series to watch. Not always the highest quality, granted.

Test cricket: the dog’s bollocks.

Correct on all counts.

Thoroughly enjoyed the English failing to regain the Ashes, can the Aussies now go on and win the series or will they end up taking their foot off the pedal through celebrating too much ?

Jason Roy and Craig Overton dropped, replaced by Chris Woakes and Sam Curran.

Stokes to bat at No 4 (?) and will not bowl due to shoulder injury.

Mitchell Marsh replaces Travis Head for Australia.

Australia won the toss...and decided to BOWL. We got 1 wicket in the first session (along with dropping Root twice). Then we dropped Root for a 3rd time after lunch.

England are in the box seat, and batting very well. Burns was looking good until a brain fade on 47, Root (Stokes out as I type) looking good otherwise, and Stokes...I was going to say was settling in.

If Australia manage to hold a catch off Root, it will get interesting.

Fair dos Warner.

At least he’s consistent.

The problem is he didn't nick it. Technology 😇

I can see England losing 5 zip in Australia next time

The Aussie pace attack is superb. All they need is one more decent batsman and Warner back to form and it’ll be no contest

England don’t know how to bat long anymore

And joe root has to go, get him back concentrating on his batting

I’d even be tempted to put Eoin Morgan in like a Brearley figure

Didn’t look like he did. WTF was that noise though?

I was convinced he nicked it when I saw it in real time.

I heard the noise and thought out, but then saw the gap between bat and ball on the review ... and the snickometer and noise didn't match up.

Weird.

He’s admitted to Ponting that he nicked it.

Getting Smith out for 80 is now considered a good result.

Australia's batting is far too frail, yet again. Warner should've been dropped for this test, & Harris is out of his depth playing over here. Wade isn't reliable, & Marsh had a great opportunity to follow up from his bowling, but played an awful shot. Australia essentially has a 2-man batting lineup.

Credit goes to England though. When Archer is on song, he is unstoppable. Your batsmen also reached double figures, which is an achievement for a batsman from any side in this test.

2 weak batting teams that would be exposed by another top team. But the fact that this series is in England is a concern for you lot.

There'll be a good few youngsters getting caps for England in the next 12 months.

Don't worry about us.

The NZ tour in November will be interesting. The Tests don’t count for world championship points so it’s a good opportunity to give some youngsters and fringe players a go. NZ are a decent team too so it’ll be a good test.

‘dark British winter’

That’s an interesting spelling of ‘Spa holiday in the Caribbean’...

It's taken the England selectors 5 test matches to realise that a left arm over the wicket quickie could worry the Australian right handed batsmen!

They'd rather Sam Curran carry the drinks and give Overton a game

Anybody just hear Nasser Hussain asking Shane Warne " which was the ground you use to get the most abuse in England"? ... his reply " Edgbaston, they used to sing he's blond, he's bent, his arse is up for rent"
You could almost feel Hussain's face turning tomato red 😂
Nice one Warney 🤣
