Hi Dickie, I'm just about to saute a steak and potatoes in butter to go with delicious french beans rattling away in the steamer.
I've opened a bottle of Torre Oria Crianza 2016, a cheeky little red from Utiel Requena which I bought in my local supermarket this afternoon for 2 euros (stick that up your arse, Brexiteers). Been sunny and 23 degrees here today, hotter tomorrow. Oh yeah, custard crumble tart for dessert!
No music though, its BBC4 night with Rick Stein in Bordeaux and Inspector Montalbano in Sicily. Get fecked, Farage, you frog faced cwnt!
[Post edited 1 Feb 2020 18:42]

Now that sounds like a plan...

Just watched Rick - my goddaughter spent a year in Bordeaux and L'entrecôte is indeed the bollox.
New series of Montalbano. Epic. The books are superb too.

She turned 50 the week before last. There were a few months in 2017 that she was told she was unlikely to make 48. I still plan to write down the events of that year. It’ll do me good I reckon. I’m still messed up. She’s far more together than I ever was about it all.

Apologies to Dicky here. Probably ruined your lighthearted thread.

I have started developing the skeleton for a book. I’d like to share it with you some time soon.

I arrived home this morning after a week in the EU. Had a massive power nap this afternoon so I’m ready for anything but this won’t amount to much more than a curry and half a dozen Staropramen on the sofa. Back to the EU tomorrow.

Got back last night. Weapons grade chilli out of the freezer and Staropramen from Waitrose on special offer.

The Italians I talked to were amazed we were dumb enough to leave the EU - then again, it was Florence and not the sticks. As I went out the door yesterday morning I saw literally dozens of police in about ten vehicles descend on Piazza Santo Spirito with lights flashing and I thought it must be a terrorist attack. There were a few market stalls carrying on as normal though so I went to have a look.

There were about 25 student types in some sort of anti-EU demo, the centrepiece of which was a flag with the € symbol with an X through it and a couple of blokes in period dress acting out a scene.
Not sure which was funnier - the best part of a hundred heavily-armed cops guarding this pathetic little demo while the locals shopped for bread and knock-off gear fifty yards away or the longing to return to the Lira, the comedy currency of Europe.

I can remember getting sweets instead of small change in Italy before the Euro.😂

Yeah, I remember sweets instead of change too. They are the same as our rose tinted f*ckwits then.

Just for Dicky,‘S info, I am now ratted. Merlot, Aspells cider, and hobgoblin doesn’t really mix, but it’s done a job on me. Just off to pass out now. Goodnight.

60 today. Cooked a nice marbled Rump in a red wine and mushroom sauce. Bought an expensive red but we’ve decided to continue with the Aldi vin rouge Pays d’Oc from the Midi because there’s nothing wrong it. Calvados or Port next? That is the question.

Aspells is my favourite cider Monny. Great choice.

Watching the darts on ITV4 with a few lagers and lime.

Reading the thread title I was hoping for some links, or better still, addresses where one could go for some 'executive' relief of a Saturday night, not some fanny about who's bloody drinking what and eating Rick Stein. This place is going to the dogs.
