Thanks... One question for you, how long before did you put the olive oil in? they say 2 days, do you think that is sufficient ?
Yes 2 days is fine to soften it up, but in my experience it doesn't make a lot of difference, I always used to have them syringed, but suction is different class.
I now have them done yearly.

My doctors does the syringe method, but they have a machine that controls the pressure. I have now bought an ear syringe off of ebay and do it at home, so much easier

They do say, once you have them cleaned, to put a few drops of warm olive oil in once a week. I must admit, once I have them cleaned out in the past, and know about this prevention method, I never do it.

Just to add one ear was heavily blocked, the micro suction got it out in little bits, the other ear which I thought seemed perfect hearing a length of wax about 3 cms long resembling a centipede shape come out..

May sound stupid but have you ever tried chewing gum? The motion of your jaw muscles can very often dislodge any ear wax.
I have done the odd jaw movement back in the day when the nurse was syringing the old water in ear method,, But no, for a stop to the excess wax I can't see that working..
