So much for cheering the NHS 14:24 - Apr 7 with 5775 viewsLohengrin

You’ve all seen the parade of parliamentary charlatans wearing their NHS lapel pins, you’ll have all seen the rainbows in front windows, heard or taken part in the applause. Behind the showy facade staff were told this morning that their Bank Holiday pay rates have been cut.

Nothing quite like the thanks of a grateful nation, is there?

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

The staff at Morriston are only being tested if they are showing the symptoms, which is pointless as they should be staying home if they have them

The whole point is that it’s impossible to tell from symptoms whether you have it or something else unless those symptoms are severe, in which case you couldn’t work whatever it is.

So those with mild symptoms or living with someone with mild symptoms can be tested and if they have a cold, or their wife, husband, child has a cold, they can go back to work safely.

If 60% of those tested in Swansea are clear, (someone suggested that yesterday) that’s a lot more staff available than if 100% of them were isolating.

290 Covid 19 positive staff?

Yes. Accumulated of course.

322 SBUHB staff tested positive by Thursday, 266 awaiting results.

Some of those of course will have recovered and back in work.

They are being tested and then sent home even if they have mild symptoms, as the test can take 24 hours or even longer

Even those who show a temperature are deemed to have it unless otherwise shown. If they have the symptoms, then it's most probably they have it

If they don't have it then, of course, it's back to work, as there's a staff shortage at the moment

Guestimate only:
A little over 3% of the workforce cumulatively tested positive. Lots of unknowns about the overall demographics though.

Nurses and doctors are currently being prioritised for testing along with hospital inpatients, which may or may not include porters, domestics, caterers, drivers, store persons, admin staff, plumbers, mechanics, electricians, technical bods, carpenters, managers etc.
The figures for staff members sheltering, self isolating due to symptoms (not tested) and due to family with symptoms and also general % sickness would be useful if you're trying to base any analysis on the figure of 322 tested positive up until last Thursday.

It’s the last bit that is why the testing is so necessary surely?

If 60% of those tested do not have it, that’s a lot of people available that wouldn’t be if they weren’t testing them?

I was trying to get a sense of how the figure related to the number of staff as I had no idea how many would be working for the Trust in total. 3% is a huge number at any one given point in time. Assuming that there must be many multiples of that not tested before and yet have had it.

The figure was, of those tested by Swansea Bay trust, 37% tested positive. 786 were referred for testing. Percentage of confirmed cases - 37%. Total awaiting test lab results - 262. That was a couple of days ago.

These figures for testing are mainly front line staff. There will be people who have potentially had the virus and not been tested and recovered. There are very many who have not been tested. The fact that 37%, of those tested, were positive and the percentage is increasing is scary.

The loudest cheer came from the Tories is when they blocked the nurse pay raise

Figures for staff of SBUHB yesterday were 449 confirmed cases, 131 awaiting results.

Extraordinary figures of 50% of A & E staff affected in the Royal Gwent ABUHB.
Difficult times.

Yes, it was either 44% OR 47%, of those staff tested, were positive.
