We need police /military enforcement on streets/shops/petrol stations . Johnson believes he can trust our "common sense". Utter fool . A short ,harp shock to the system lockdown better than long term

The reality is that if you do nothing as you want more people will die. Doctors will have to be transferred form other areas to deal with it so things like cancer and cardiac procedures dont get done. We are seeing in Morriston at the moment that Cardiac operations are having to be put on hold because patients and staff have caught covid. Look at the situation in the Royal Glamorgan. These things werent happening 2 months ago as the cases of covid had reduced to a trickle. Everything started going back up when people went abroad on holidays and bringing the virus with them. It has then spread from there. Look at the countries that closed border and how few deaths and cases they have had. They then have been able to have a far more normal life because of it. It really isnt rocket science. It works but we didnt have a government who would see it through.

Anyone in a shop now without a mask should be confronted. People are dying because we are so selfish.

Every shop i visit has customers wearing masks. There are a few and some don't wear them over their noses. It's not enforcing anything , it's refusing entry if they don't comply.Very simple to do

You cannot walk out of a store with a trolley full and not expect to be challenged. o why expect not to be challenged over a mask. We agree contro.Praise Jesus. This site is the place to be bruv

It did pretty much make cases non existent. That was until daft eat out to help out schemes, free for all on holidays/travel, encouraging people to return to offices etc rather than a phased return to life.

See those last three words sum up the folly of this ongoing situation.”return to life”. Isn’t it inherently foolish to stop people from living their lives that could end at any minute anyway for a multitude of causes? You’ve got elderly people in care homes dying of loneliness and abandonment, millions of people facing job losses and financial hardship, others have been torn from their families, nobody can go out and enjoy themselves or have any sort of life. People who are already ill of something else are struggling to get appointments, see doctors, surgery has been cancelled. At what point do we start realising we are causing far more harm than any virus ever could?

This our problem. We do not enforce it. Boris is utterly negligent by not insisting Police and Military enforce this simple rule. We are talking of life and death here.Nothing more basic. We are reaping the wind of being too soft

The first paragraph above is absolutely key. It’s not a binary choice. If you do nothing, Covid cases explode and capacity for other healthcare diminishes further. You have to deal with Covid first due to the way it exponentially spreads. If cardiac issues reproduced in the same way then it would come first. It’s a rubbish choice I know, but controlling Covid first is the only realistic one.

It is indeed. If covid runs amok we have no NHS. That is why when it is out of control lock down is the only option. But it's here for the long haul so we need to live with it. A large part of this situation is down to the failure of test and trace and no meaningful enforcement until it was too late. The politicians in Cardiff and Westminster are to blame. If a 4 week lockdown down from the 26th as I've heard is correct I'll suck it up if it allows me to have a family Xmas. We need wholesale changes the people in power.

As the police forces in Wakes have stated Drakeford's law is total unenforceable as too many border crossings in Wales and it would be impossible to check every vehicle that enters Wales. The police just do not have the manpower to do . Typical of drippy Drakeford he dithers then comes up with another unworkable scheme.

You will be glad to know that I have just come back from Pontardawe and called in Farm Foods and Home Bargains. Every shopper bar one child possibly under 11 was wearing masks. 2 members of staff in Home Bargains on tills not wearing masks but were behind shields. Everyone else wearing masks. Vastly different to your experiences in Wirral and Liverpool.

It seems like your area is different to mine. Most are obeying the law here but rates are still high. I suspect the figures for Cardiff, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot are largely swelled by students in Halls of Residence and Houses of Multiple Occupancies. I read earlier 80% of the cases in Exeter relate to the students there. Places like Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Newcastle, York, Leeds and Sheffield have multiple universities and these are amongst the cities with the highest figures. Cardiff has 2 universities and has massive rates as does Swansea.
