Scotland can't leave with approval of the UK government you only have to look at what happened in Spain when Catalonia tried. Scotland can't survive without the UK subsidies. All the things I listed are under the control of the Scottish government due the the powers devolved to them by the UK. [Post edited 22 Dec 2020 10:12]

The UK has no money to give Scotland. June 2020. The UK's national debt tops £2 trillion, and passes 100% of the country's GDP for the first time in over 50 years. So the UK gives Scotland borrowed money. An independent Scotland can do that themselves as a national state.

Nicola should concentrate on sorting Scotland major problems first. The Scottish health service is failing badly with people in Glasgow having a shorter life expectancy than some third world countries. She also needs to tackle the 300% increase in drug related deaths in the last 10 years. Add to that Scotland alcohol and obesity problem you can see she should concentrate on her day job. |
Bollocks. Scotland is not in jail. Legally there is nothing that say Indy1 was once in a lifetime. Fact. And Brexit means Indy2 is now needed. Circumstances have changed. Bottom line - SNP mandate in Scotlands Parliament will mean Indy2. Scotland can run the referendum without any involvement from Westminster. Then argue out in International Court, where Scotlands voice will be upheld. UN Charter ensures that outcome. 2022 is my guess.

Legally there is no reason why Westminster has to allow Scotland another Indy vote. Of course Scotland could have the vote and if Indy wins anounce a breakaway but that would be breking international law wouldn't it? There is a legal treaty, the act of union, 1st May 1707 when the Scottish and English parliaments combined. They agreed to combine so I guess technically only Wales and Ireland can have an argument about going Indy because we were forced in by military might. Scotland, according to the law, has to ask permission because they agreed to that in the terms of devolution, you know, the Scotland Act 1998, they need a section 30 order and even Sturgeon has acknowledged that, https://commonslibrary.parliam So Kilkenny, if the law is a form of prison then Scotland is indeed in a kind of jail, a legal jail.

Strange how killy believes in democracy in Scotland but not in Wales. The Scottish freely signed the act of union . Also under the 2014 Edinburgh agreement they were given a once in a generation referendum to decide if they wanted to leave the UK. Even salmon and nicola agreed with this the in SNP referendum literature which included the phrase "once in a generation" and "once in a lifetime opportunity" The Scottish people decided by a considerable majority to remain part of the UK. Meanwhile in Wales after over 20 years since the devolution referendum, which was won by a tiny majority, the people of Wales have had no opportunity to vote on the success or failure of devolution. Even though all the evidence points to most of Wales , apart from Cardiff, being worse of and fed up the Welsh Assembly, senedd.

Like I've said before, Felix, to some people it's only really democracy when they get what they want. Anything else is wrong, a crime even.

As it turns out though, that breaking of international law didn't happen. You can't forgive Bojo can you, not even for something that didn't happen. How about Nicola Sturgeon, you forgave her quickly enough for breaking the rules, is it because she isn't English?

So thats unfair. Boris was seriously proposing to break International law on a deal he himself had recently signed. Not a mistake, deliberate, and considered. He only pulled out cos Trump lost and Sleepy Joe would have had him for breakfast. He has not apologised. Comrade Nicola was at a funeral event, and it was not considered or planned. She immediately apologised. See the obvious differences ?

As opposed to you IRA who broke international law by trying killed the democratically elected leader of a democratic country. As well gods law "tho shall not kill" despite pretending to be Christians. Boris proposed to give power to the UK government to amend laws on all things within the UK. Ironic that you cannot see the difference between democracy and gun law.

Why are you posting about the IRA ? We have all enjoyed 20 years of peace. You need to read up on stuff and be better informed. Your Brexit threatened the GFA, but President Biden has ensured that the customs border is now in the Irish Sea. Great news for the north of Ireland, i am sure that you will agree ? The DUP will not forgive Johnson for his lies though. Sold them out.

The same reason you keep bringing up the irish famine 150 years ago while IRA atrocities are still in the memory of most people and thankfully after the British army defeated the IRA militarily forcing them to the peace table. Even with peace the IRA have still been murdering people in the last 20 years. In case you have not notice biden does not come into power for two weeks. Well done to boris for getting a free trade agreement which most people said he never could.

Saw a film 50 Dead men Walking -about how the IRA operated and how they ruled the catholic population. The guy who SB used to infiltrate is still "on the run" and will be forever. They do not forget

You know its really odd that 1 million people starved to death under the rule of the UK govt is an inconvenience for you. When Biden won, Johnson folded. He could not bully Irekand with the EU and USA against him. So he sold out the DUP. Had Trump won, Johnson may have felt emboldened to avoid the border in the Irish Sea - and recreate the British border on the island of Ireland. So you are celebrating Johnson getting a far worse deal than we already had. Thats the test. Not a comparison to No Deal. Johnson sold out the DUP, and your hero the frog faced Farage is very angry ..... love it !!! 😂

People starved to death all the time in the 19th century it is what happen. While in the late 20th century and even early 21st century your IRA friends deliberately killed thousands of innocent centuries. The UK bt the development of vaccine health care and the industrial revolution save 100s of millions worldwide. I know this is inconvenient for you but the UK also helped to save Europe in WW11 thereby saving more millions from the nazi death camps. Once again you are denying the democratic result the UK voted for. Strange how you would be happy with both Scotland and Wales leaving the UK and of course the result of that would be them also leaving the EU. They would also have to reapply to.join the EU and adopt the euro as part of the deal. Two very small countries would have very little voice amongst the 27 EU countries while they have a far bigger voice in the UK. Perhaps a new years resolution for you would be to accept democracy and stop spreading your bigotry and hatred for democracy. Best wishes for the New Year.

You are of course quite correct. My apologies. Glad you thought it was a good film, certainly made me think again. Its not an easy watch in some parts. Did you also see the documentary ? I would value your thoughts on that if you have see it ? Fascinating that it was made in 1973 but not shown until 1993, and then in Wales only. Narrated by Kenneth Griffin of course. Born in Tenby.

The UK left the EU in January 2020. Do keep up. Good to see Starmer's speech today saying the UK has a bright and posperous future. At long last labour has progressive leader that likes the UK
