| I Have to ask. 11:57 - Jan 5 with 6946 views | A_Fans_Dad | Why is our Government, NICE & the NHS allowing people to suffer the symptoms of COVID, hospitalisation, intensive care and death? What advise do those bodies provide for reducing the effects of COVID? When people get a positive Test result what advise are they given? The answer to those last two questions is NOTHING. Stay at home until your symptoms become serious or you get better is their only answer, which is no answer. The mantra of those bodies is "the only way out is lockdowns and vaccines". While the rest of the world outside the UK, USA & Western Europe are successfully using various drugs to improve people's chances of not getting COVID, not suffering so badly, not ending up in hospital and not dying. The drugs are cheap, well understood, been in use for years and work. Even Long COVID has been cured in many patients. Where are the banner headlines for all this good news in the UK? Ask yourself this "if you catch COVID would you want to be able to try the drugs under medical advise before you are ill enough to be hospitalised, would you take them? Would you like to at least to have that option? Then ask why you are not being given the same options as 3rd world countries offer their patients? | | | | |

Yes, why don't you thank them for COVID19 while you are at it. It was the present of the year 2020.

How will you find out? The paper was finally accepted on the 3rd of December, over a month ago. What press or media have seen it in? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Then why don't you know about it? By comparison the crap & dangerous Oxford study of HCQ and the study on Dexamethasone were all over the press within hours of being made public.

I suspect because as yet there is very little to get excited about. Those studies were all over the news because there was.

An 80% reduction in hospitalisation, ICU requirement and Mortality. No not much excitement there.

Was it? Any evidence? If it was in italy first it would have been all over Europe by January 2020. Even the Chinese accept it was started in China. Pity they have banned WHO from going to China to investigate.

I think covid antibodies were found in blood samples from that time. It's not a very reliable test though apparently. It started in China, there is no doubt about that.

Yes, isn't it? Far superior to tocilizumab and sarilumab which have been authorised for the UK recently, both Arthritis drugs, not anti-virals. They only manage a24% improvement. But it is interesting that the treatments currently under test are being given mostly as a last resort to prevent death. Blood Plasma has just failed such a study, which is very surprising. Other countries are working the other end of treatment, looking towards prevention and the earliest intervention. [Post edited 11 Jan 2021 23:07]

14% of the blood tested in of those with cancer taken in September were found to be positive for anti-bodies and yet they didn't have loads of deaths? But even now they don't find that many positive anti-bodies with people have tested positive for COVID. Sorry that just doesn't add up.

They do find antibodies, but they on;y last a few months, regardless they found them in Italy in sept, so it kind of leaves the Chinese off the hook if it was in Europe first. We need to find another escaped goat I firmly believe, that myself and family had this Xmas time 2019, although no tests were available and it wasn't even know about at that time.Docs said my mother had a virus on her chest, but they didn't know what it was. This has been around a lot longer than we believe [Post edited 12 Jan 2021 9:30]

The tests they use to look for antibodies give rise to a lot of false positives apparently, also they identify other Coronavirus antibodies as being Covid. Of course you'd have to compare with similar tests elsewhere too for China to be off the hook.

They would have retained the samples and would still have them now and can use todays technology

Neither are 'drugs' in that they are not pharmacologically active. They are monoclonal antibody treatments that target Interleukin-6 or its receptor which is a key pro-inflammatory cytokine that drives acute phase responses to infection (in all vertebrates by the way) They are very much to alleviate inflammation and in the case of Covid, reduce the likelihood of a cytokine storm. The result is the same effect as steroids like dexamethasone. Like all these therapeutics they reduce symptoms not infection.

Hopefully. Stimulates cells to have anti-viral state. Basically mimicking innate signals for viral infection. Lot's of potential, but no doubt expensive and probably in the pockets of big Pharma, blah blah.
