Actually, drugs themselves don't really kill, the contaminants do. A user would have his regular fix of say 30% heroin every day and then one day the dealer get's careless and gives him say 43% heroin, the result is death.That's how overdoses occur, it's not users wanting more and more until it kills them. Users can take heroin for many many years without any serious health effects - most users take it for about 10 years and then usually just stop.
