| The Queen 11:12 - Apr 18 with 2839 views | trampie | Reading about the plans for the Queen's death it makes one realise that it will be a huge seismic event, the likes of which most living people in this country (possibly any country) would never have seen. Talk of workers getting sent home and having a holiday for the funeral. | |

| The Queen on 18:33 - Apr 18 by Lohengrin | I remember the day well - Sunday 31st August, 1997. My daughter was Christened that same afternoon. It seems like yesterday. |
Yes I remeber it too. I was visiting my sister in Cardiff and stayed the night. She woke me up that morning to tell me. I didn't believe her at first. I remember the drive home, the mtorway was deserted and Swansea was dead, it was like Christmas day morning.

| The Queen on 18:28 - Apr 18 by Catullus | There couldn't have been a day off on the day she died, unless we knew she was going to die. Think about it. There was a day off for me, I was a postman. Her funeral was on a Friday. 20 yars later, 2017 there was a national holiday declared, National Kindness day. |
Her funeral was on a Saturday. 6 September 1997. I was in Moab in Utah on holiday and remember watching it in the early hours. The first we knew of it was when a few people came up to us and said ‘sorry for your loss’. We had no idea what they were talking about and when they said I remember saying ‘don’t be stupid, she’s only 30 something’. It was weird being away. Went to find a tv showing the coverage from the U.K. First thing we saw was them carrying a coffin draped in the Union Flag off the plane.

Sorry yes, a Saturday, 6 days after she died. We had the Saturday off though many of us wanted to work because we'd end up with 2 days work on the Monday!

| The Queen on 20:13 - Apr 18 with 788 views | trampie | I remember when Diana died I was in the states and I knew before the general population back in Blighty, Yankee TV stations were reporting her death and saying that for some reason the authorities were not telling the English people and the American reporters in Europe could not understand why, perhaps the people over here wanted to be sure what they were reporting, who knows how they think and why they do thinks a certain why. | |

She was the Queen of England, he was a guest in this country, not even sure when he got citizenship, I doubt he had a nickname for her, he seemed to know his place.

I don’t know where you’re going with that? Philip was a direct descendant of Victoria who held The King’s Commission. His conduct during the second war was exemplary, that of his Mother positively heroic.

It was only his mother that attended his wedding out of his immediate family, it was reported that his sisters were married to Nazis.

Gwynfor Evans’s family shop in Barry had all the windows put through in 1940 and ‘NAZI ‘ painted across the brickwork. Not something Philip ever had to deal with. You see how historical brickbats go? [Post edited 19 Apr 2021 9:48]

Tramp, I somehow think that was the work of locals, not paid-up members of the Fabian Society. Bite the bullet, son. Philip had a good war; something neither you nor or I are able to boast.

Philip won medals for his war effort, but in fairness his wife done her bit as well.

| The Queen on 16:39 - Apr 19 with 438 views | trampie | Labour did a disingenuous number on Plaid and as a result have unfairly damaged them over the decades, it was nearly always found to be nonsense as per the conclusion to your link Cat but the damage was often done, I told you the other day Labour and the Conservatives have been doing it for decades to smaller parties but particularly Labour towards Plaid as Labour never seen the Conservatives as a problem in Wales but always feared Plaid could take their votes so they would make up all sorts of disingenuous nonsense to try and discredit Plaid, when finally somebody does it back in the shape of the Greens to one of the big two parties you are up in arms, so like I said where have you been, are you new to following politics ? and do you realise the article is vindicating Plaid ? or are you just seeing a Labour rags headline ? | |

| The Queen on 16:50 - Apr 19 with 428 views | trampie | Oh there we are I've seen that article before and it totally clears Plaid and replied straight away Cat because I didn't think you realise what the article was saying because of the way the Labour rag headlined it, but I've just noticed noticed that the Professor guy saying "During World War II, Prof Jones argues there “seems to have been a concerted attempt by leading figures in the Welsh establishment to do a number on Plaid Cymru.”, exactly people have been doing a number on Plaid for decades, that is why I recognise that opponents of Corbyn did a number on him and his party in general I recognised that as a fact but it was difficult to have any sympathy for them because they did it to others for decades eg Plaid in Wales. | The Queen on 11:25 - Apr 18 by Catullus | Yes but it doesn't mean the Queen will live that long, or maybe she'll live even longer. Maybe she'll break records and become the Uk's oldest woman when she passes 112. Or maybe he grief at losing her partner of 73 years will catch up with her. Who knows. |
So what you are saying is the Queen may not cease to exist until after the age of 101 or she may go sooner, thanks for that.

I wasn't up in arms about the Greens trying to win votes nor would I have been if they had been overtly critical of the tories. However, if they want my vote they need to give me reasons to vote for them. Stop the tories tells me nothing of what they would do and that is the problem. Now "or are you just seeing a Labour rags headline?" now why would I just agree with a "Labour rag"? I was dissing Plaid, that's what you missed. I was poking fun at Plaid hence the Dracula reference. I engaged with Rhun ap Iorwerth and found Plaid not to be worth a vote.
