| Farming deals post Brexit on 11:24 - May 21 by felixstowe_jack | No vaccines were delivered while we were in the EU. We were able to order vaccines from anywhere in the world because we were no longer in the EU. That has allowed the UK to have one of the top three vaccination programmes in the World while the EU beauracrats and politicians are still arguing about who's fault their lack of vaccines is. Don't forget the EU broke the withdrawal agreement with two months of signing it as they banned vaccines from being move from the ROI to Ni both in the single market. A hasty retreat following international outrage particularly from the Irish government. Still none of the unelected bureaucrats were sacked for making this decision. No evidence of any stockpiling as the UK government distributed all the vaccine it had throughout the UK. Drakeford did stockpile in cases Wales ran out but after press and TV outrage he soon changed his mind. [Post edited 21 May 2021 11:27]

The Brexit transition period ended on 31st December 2020. The roll out happened before that, so vaccines would have been ordered well in advance. while still in the EU' The Uk ordered vaccines as early as August 2020 and was stockpiling as well https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/hea

We left the EU on 31st January 2020. Vaccines were not even being developed at the time. The virus had not even been declared a pandemic by WHO at the time. All Vaccines were developed , ordered after we had left the EU. Not sure why you don't understand this basic fact. The rapid development of the AstraZeneca vaccine was in part funded by the UK. Thanks to being NO LONGER IN THE EU the UK was able to order vaccines quickly well before the beauracrats and politicians in the EU got their act together. That is why the UK vaccination programme is in the top thee on the world and has vaccinated twice the percentage of the EU. Why do you still post fibs. [Post edited 23 May 2021 7:39]

No vaccines were approved until December 2020 so any vaccines produced could only be used in clinical trials. It is true that with promising early data the drug manufacturers had some stock in production but that is not stockpiling. If the vaccines were not approved they would have been destroyed. Clearly the UK used the vaccines as soon as they could and have never hoarded vaccines. Unlike the EU which has large supplies of AstraZeneca vaccines which they refused to use . That is what I would call hoarding.

Orders were placed before they were approved. Here's one even earlier in July 2020, stating that mass orders had been placed https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/hea | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Correct orders were placed. That does not mean orders were delivered in August 2020. The vaccine manufacturers were making vaccines while they waited for the trial result and approval. They then had some stock to start delivering early orders once trial results were approved.

We left the EU on 31st January 2020. After that date we no longer had any MEP and were legally no longer members of the EU. The transition period only applied to the single market trading rules. You can deny the historical date of 31st January as much as you're but you are wrong, wrong, wrong wrong. Even the EU agree with me on this one https://ec.europa.eu/commissio The United Kingdom is set to leave the European Union on 31 January 2020 at midnight (Brussels time). It will no longer be a Member State of the European Union. This is a decision that the EU regrets but respects. The EU and the United Kingdom have conducted intensive negotiations to agree on the terms of the UK's withdrawal and create legal certainty once EU law ceases to apply to the UK. Throughout these negotiations, the European Commission has ensured an inclusive process, with regular meetings of the 27 EU Member States, as well as with the European Parliament and national parliaments. Additional input from EU consultative bodies and stakeholders has helped the European Commission gather evidence in the process. Unprecedented transparency was ensured throughout, as the European Commission published negotiating documents, and all other relevant documents on its website. The result of the negotiations is the Agreement on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community. It was today formally signed by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will sign the Agreement today in the United Kingdom. This is one of the last steps in the ratification process of the Withdrawal Agreement, which will be concluded by the Council on 30 January, after the European Parliament's consent on 29 January. The transition (sometimes called the implementation period) will end on 31 December 2020. It cannot be extended beyond that date. While in transition, the UK remains in both the EU customs union and single market. That means - until the transition ends - most things will stay the same. This includes: Travelling to and from the EU (including the rules around driving licences and pet passports) Freedom of movement (the right to live and work in the EU and vice versa) UK-EU trade, which will continue without any extra charges or checks being introduced Despite many things staying the same the UK has already left the EU's political institutions, including the European Parliament and European Commission. So while the UK will no longer have any voting rights, it will continue to follow EU rules during the transition. For example, the European Court of Justice will have the final say over any legal disputes. The transition also means the UK will continue to contribute to the EU's budget.

Glad you agree with the official EU site that the UK left the EU on 31st January 2020. As we free of the EU, which even the EU agreed we were on 31st January 2020, we had no problems funding developing ordering vaccines at a record pace. Some people think the World is flat. Those of us in the touch with reality know the truth. The UK left the EU on 31st January 2020.
