He has not been handled properly over the last two seasons. He is closing on 23 and only played a few games for Newport. He gets a chance for the first time in his career to get a consistent run of games and people want him to come back to sit on the bench. | |

DJ wasn't really given the chance to flop, they sent him home a handful of games into the season so they could bring in Ben Godfrey. If they'd kept him on and allowed him to get fit he would have torn that division to shreds.
McBurnie as well was only at Bristol Rovers for a short period, arriving in early March as reinforcement for a settled side well on its way to promotion. Roberts simply wasn't given a chance there, terrible choice of loan given their manager had a reputation for not rotating his 11, and Connor being explicitly signed as injury cover only. Which had been the case at Yeovil as well, but then he (and we) got lucky and there were injuries to cover. | | | |
