Watching the England game tonight, what a beast of a player, he has everything, engine, passing and tackling he has the lot.

Mightily impressed how he has come on.

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Some on here don't realise what a winning mentality is about. Of course its about winning and you chose a side that can give you that if you've the ability and eligibility.
England will win tournaments in the near future, I've no doubt about that. Ireland will not, I can state with the same certainty.

1. England have won nothing for over 5 decades. This pre dates colour television in uk homes.
2. Club football might be about winning, international football is about representing your country.

England did not win the home advantage every gsme and a favourable draw.
It will take another 50 years.
France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, and Holland are all far superior.

Guarantee you if Giggs had his time over again he would of played for England.

He'd have fitted in well with the likes of John Terry an all 👍

Do you think children in Dublin go to sleep with posters of Steve Staunton or Kevin Kilbane on their walls? Do you think they argue over who gets to be Glen Whelan when playing football in the school yard?

A footballer's legacy is determined by what they win. George Best isn't a legend because he played for Northern Ireland. John O'Shea wont be remembered for turning up for Ireland 118 times. It will be for his individual successes, winning Champions League trophies, Premier League titles and other medals.

So you believe that they have posters of John O’Shea ?

Do you think that have Harry McGuire, Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Andy Carroll, Welbeck, or the Yorkshie Pirlo ?

Be interested in how you know so much ?

Looks like he would of missed another competition if he had decided to be a plastic paddy after tonight’s result.

Bet he’s gutted he choose his country of birth to play international football for.

Does that mean Raheem Sterling a 'Synthetic Sais' in your world. There is an argument that an Roi team with both Rice and Grealish would have been a serious proposition.

Correct me if I am wrong, however a brief search tells me Rice was born in England, educated as a child in England and has lived in England his entire life.

Why is there even a debate as to his decision to play for England?

Similarly, Sterling was educated in England from the age of 5 and has lived here ever since.

Contrast that to the embarrassment that is the "Welsh" national team, which is riddled with players born in England, educated in England and quite frankly have no affiliation to Wales other than a relative being born here decades ago. It's truly one of Wales' biggest sporting embarrassments, that their most successful achievements were attained largely thanks to English footballers. No wonder the bitterness is so strong.

Take it up with FIFA. The Cymru team operate under the rules of he competition. Sterling was born In Jamaica to Jamaican parents. He is eligible. I make no complaint or tarnish his name. R

All the Welsh players have either Welsh parents Brooks (Welsh mother) or Welsh grandparents. These are actually quite rare. Some decline to play for Cymru as they do not feel the love. e.g. Jay da Silva. Some are not committing at the moment. Chem Campbell and Owen Hesketh at Wolves. Rice played all his underage football for RoI. Chemand Owen will avoid the problems Rice got in the unlikely event Southgate selects them. .

Wales s best players are all home grown. The 'grannie' players make up the numbers. I was quite impressed with the u17, u18, u19 and u21 all putting out squads away from home. They got excellent results. The U19 lost two narrowly and drew one featuring Harry Jones and Josh Edwards and young Savage in a tournament in Croatia.

Got nothing to do with 'feeling the love', they're hedging their bets in case they can do better!

Do you think Gazza, Lineker, Scholes, Barnes etc all wanted to play for Brazil, Argentina and Germany because they had better sides ?

Of course not.

Not a single Welsh player would choose to play for England.
Its a different nation.

Thanks for reading.

Well they'd needed to have been eligible in the first place. Having absolutely nothing to do with those countries, it's unlikely so not sure what your point is.

The point I've made is that those who have eligibility for both Wales and England will, if they're good enough, will most of the time choose England. Yes, thats right, good enough. That would undoubtedly have included Ashley Williams for example.

Sorry if any of that hurts.

I'd argue there are plenty who are not eligible who would choose to play in World Cups for England instead of playing under Robert Page for Wales.

International football is a job after all. Bellamy, Ramsey and Giggs looked happy enough playing for Team GB.

Giggs was not eligible for England under rules at the time.
So i take your point.

Also Owen Hargreaves took the kings shilling and - as we all know - what an England legend he became. Laughable decision.

But Ashley chose wales, you div.
So that sinks your whole argument.

Does not hurt at all - delighted Dai Brooks, Ampedu, Moore etc have chosen Cymru.

I don't care who picks Ingerland.

Ashley Williams chose Wales because he wasn't good enough for England. What don't you get about that?

Same applies to the others you mention.

If they were, the chances are they'd have chosen England (though I don't claim any personal insight regards that).

Jay Da Silva feels English and by now realises he will never play for England. Karl Darlow similarly will not play for England. Both are eligible for Wales and would get into the squad for sure. They do not feel the love for Wales. Similarly with Shawcross. 1 cap for England. Raised in Wales.

Ashley Williams bought into his Welsh heritage however and captained wales to Euro 16 semi finals. He never wanted to play for England. Brookes also had the choice. He has not kicked on but was highly touted at one time being player of the tournament in the u21 Toulon Tornament (for England).

"Ashley Williams chose Wales because he wasn't good enough for England. What don't you get about that?"

It is simply not true. This is your assumption from your own particular standpoint. What you mean is. "If i was AW I would have wnted to play for England"

Ashley Willams was good enough to play for England. Shawcrsoos played for England and also should have chosen Wales from a career perspective.

England defenders worse that Ash in his time include.

Warren Barton, Paul Koncheski, Danny Mills. Mathew Upson for example.

England have tried to win the Euros in 2012 with both Danny Welbeck and Andy Carroll as their strike force.

God help us.

There is a reason that England have never won any tourno away from home, and its been over 50 years since 1966. This win on home soil predates colour TV in uk households.

Team GB (football) was a construct of Lord Coe and a gaggle of Tory MPs. It was an excuse for rampant flag waving in one of them most corrupt Olympic games of all time. The chairman pressed Stuart Pearce to pick Beckham. imagine that, Bckham an east London boy getting gold in east London. Apple and pears up the stairs great geezer know wot i mean Guvnor?. The fact he could no long run made little difference. 'Becks' was very upset. It would have been a glorious end to a pneumatically enhanced career. It brings a tear to an old Cockney's eye so it does.

It resulted in creating millionaires for West Ham owners who are paying £2m per annum for a stadium that cost near a billion with its own station. They just have to stick around for a few years and pocket millions courtesy of the taxpayer. Swansea city were punching above them for a few years of the 'Jenkinista era'. We had no chance in the long term.

Defenders of Team GB need to point to one other group of players that can feature in FIFA tournament simultaneously. Ill give you a clue. There are none. Kosovo players cannot play for anyone else. I do not even now what the Team GB women did in Japanese yawnfest. Lost pretty early by the sounds of it. Good news too. I supported Ki and South Korea v Team GB with Taylor and Caulker in 2012.

That's highly debatable. Perhaps he'd have been called up for a year or two during his peak. However, he was playing in League when he received the offer to play for Wales. It's not as if he had a choice of playing for England or playing for Wales.

It was Wales or, very likely, nothing.
