| Dogs on 07:27 - Feb 23 with 500 views | Dr_Winston | It's obscene to pay thousands for a dog when there are many more of them awaiting adoption. That kind of behaviour is what leads to puppy farming. Personally I'd outlaw all dog/cat breeding until the shelters are empty. And then again only under strict licencing. Animal ownership laws in general need to be toughened up too, maybe then the arseholes who took in dogs during lockdown and now can't wait to get shot of them again will be deterred. | Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Some feel more comfortable bringing up a pup rather than taking on a possible problem.

Read it again They work and then are entered in events to show off their prowess

"Working. They are show winners." When you say "show" is that working show, as in game fairs and gundog demonstrations ? Or "show" like Crufts. Either way, make sure the parents are health scored to see whether they carry the genes which could cause them or their future offspring to suffer from an inherited disease.. So what happens if the pup turns out to be difficult to train? Dump it? If you're not confident in your ability to handle any dog then you shouldn't get one at all.

| Dogs on 14:09 - Feb 23 with 393 views | Catullus | We have applied to a rescue centre to adopt a 4 year old cross, a friend for our 12 year old cross who is happily still fit and healthy. We would never pay huge sums when so many dogs need good homes. We wouldn't get a pure breed either, they often have too many issues. | |

Hello J. Good to have an exchange with you. We are confident enough thanks. We've had dogs before and big ones at that. What I was commenting on is that fact that rescue dogs can have issues which are hard to address. I want our putative new chum to be one with who the grandkids can feel comfortable with and we them. Malinois are full on all the time and my daughter's is well trained and a super animal but they are notorious for being not the best with young children . Thanks for your interest.
