| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

| Season ticket non renewal. on 14:24 - May 12 by STID2017 | Luton finished 12th last season, Forest 17th and Huddersfield 20th. Us and Barnsley finished 4th and 5th respectively. So last season's finish doesn't have a huge bearing on attraction to new players or other matters. People outside the club take a wider view (unless the club is promoted or relegated) that finishing position is only a small part of the picture. A lot can happen in a couple of months at say Reading or Birmingham to change people's perception re sponsorship etc. Both good an bad |
Forest were bottom this season too, then Cooper came along and turned them around. They were only heading one way before then and that was largely due to the slump in league position year on year they were finding themselves in. Barnsley have no money. What they did have (£1m) they managed to attract a Premier League player in Josh Benson to the club. Player acquisition being easier sadly doesn’t matter if you have no money like them. It’s a massive difference in terms of being able to attract players to the club if you do have a bit to spend, any player will tell you that they are more attracted to a club finishing high in the league than low. We had Man Utd take Laird off us to give to a club higher than us. Under Cooper when we were high in the league we had the opposite happen, Chelsea took Gallagher off Charlton to give to us. Pointless in saying finishing high and finishing low is the same, it really isn’t. [Post edited 12 May 2022 14:46]

| Season ticket non renewal. on 13:13 - May 12 by STID2017 | Ultimately, whichever manager you prefer (Potter, Cooper or Martin) the net result was the same. Whilst we can all cherry pick games that suit our preferred views on which was best, there are many games I have seen which were boring. As I said net result is we are still in the Championship, never been seriously threatened with relegation, but not promoted either. Hopefully next season will see more entertainment and a promotion bid as well |
There were boring games under Potter also some dire performances such as v Ipswich at home just as there were under Cooper and even more so this season. Whilst you argue the net result is the same due to the fact we remain in the Championship I feel is flawed. this might be more relavent in the Premier league...but ii reality whislt we improved our legue position under Cooper in succesive seasons this season finds us closer to the bottom than top of the league. As others say our position in the league is critical to attract players , etc especially given our location....players will be less likely to want to come here if we are not seen to be successful...we are a long way from the midlands London and Lancashire players need to relocate its not so easy to commute to so there have to be attractions. the Championship shows how things can go wrong look at Barnsley play off semifinalists last season relegated this. and flirted with the relegations zone the season before last too. Lets hope you are right that we get the results to get us top six whilst also giving us some better entertainment than this season.

| Season ticket non renewal. on 10:57 - May 12 by whiterock | We still have a very healthy crown of 18,000, 20 years ago we were lucky to get 3,000. As for the football, it wasn't always great but when it was it was a joy to watch, a defensive coach and one or two additions and I can see us going all the way. |
20 years ago isn't relevant now. We are where we are and none of us want to drop down again. Those 18000 crowds, they aren't accurate. Very many people weren't at some games and the real crowd was obviously lower than the announced crowd. Next season will be the real test, Martin will have the full pre-season and transfer window and season ticket sales will be the fans verdict on last season. There won't be any excuses to hide behind next season. I can't fault the optimism though, I used to have that, when I was young.

I agree with your general point in this post but not the bit about the Forest 'slump in league position year on year'. Cooper has done a really good job there this year but in the last 4 seasons they finished 9th in 2019 & 7th in 2020 before Cooper took them to 4th this year. The anomaly was last year when they started badly binned their manager & Hughton proved to be a disaster for them. 2 seasons ago Lamouchi had them in the playoffs for the vast majority of the year until they imploded after the lockdown resumption

They haven’t finished in the playoffs in a decade. In those 10 seasons, they have finished mostly outside the top 10, often deep into the bottom half:- 19th, 11th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 21st, 17th - they do have an 8th, 9th and 7th in there too. 24th when Cooper took them over. Since the playoffs (where we knocked them out of) they have been on a downward spiral looking for someone to sort them out. Cooper did that when the club was at the bottom of its spiral.

No I'm aware that they've been out of the playoffs for that time (although 2 seasons ago they were in the top 6 from Boxing day until the last minute of the regular season when we pipped them because they imploded). The 9th & 7th finishes were both in the last 4 seasons rather than years ago so my point stands. They had 1 bad season last year because of a poor managerial appointment & Cooper has turned it around this year- well done to him for that. [Post edited 13 May 2022 20:36]
