I'm a member of a few Swansea local FB groups, and I can't believe how many young fit people are requesting recommendations for someone to cut their garden. WTf? I can't believe it, it's quite enjoyable on a nice day, doing a spot of strimming and mowing, why on earth would you give someone x amount of money, when you can do it yourself.

We have one of them but we only have them around every 3 months. The wife and I cut our own grass this morning, ten minutes after we finished it lamped down. To be exact, there is nothing wrong with being a gardener, this thread isn't about gardeners per se is it? isn't it more about lazy, self entitled, up their own behinds kinds of people who enjoy telling others how "successful" they are when in reality they are (as my wife would call it) all fur coat and no knickers, meaning it's all for show. We have employed a gardener in the past for a big job when I was on crutches, just saying.

I understand you don’t like “showy” people, I don’t think many like having their faces rubbed in it when someone is doing well for themselves. But what I think some are confused about is why you think someone paying £30 a month for a gardener constitutes being “showy”? That’s the price of 2 coffees a week. It’s hardly worthy of the Hollywood Hills.

Don’t tell anybody but I have a cleaner once a week too. I realise how fortunate I am to be able to afford it but I’m pretty time poor and that the pay off. It’s a happiness choice. Plus I blummin’ hate doing it.

Doing the upstairs windows is hard, pushing a flymo around twice a week isn't!

Shoving some food in the oven isn’t hard either, yet people will still choose to have someone cook it for them and go out for lunch. Not sure what your issue is. Some people don’t like cutting the grass, let them hire someone who does like doing it, if they want to. Worry yourself about something more worthwhile would be my advice.

Depends how tight you are Personally I'm not keen on paying someone 20 quid to spend an hour doing our lawn. I pay a window cleaner a tenner though, to spend 20 minutes cleaning our 4 upstairs windows. Financially it makes no sense. Time to buy a ladder, and some window cleaning equipment I think
