Downes replacement, should he leave. 22:23 - Jun 28 with 4262 viewsKeithHaynes

Panutche Camara — Plymouth Argyle

According to FLW.

Perhaps slightly more attacking than Downes is, the Plymouth man could certainly be available this summer and a is the right kind of age bracket with the right amount of potential to be a very good replacement.

Last year in League One, he was a key player for Argyle and managed 40 league appearances with a superb return of four goals and six assists. It means he has a slightly better output in front of goal than the Swansea man and could be better for them in terms of attacking play, whilst still retaining a good level of vision and passing ability.

At 25-years-old, he is slightly older than Downes is currently but his availability and current form makes him a solid potential replacement. He looks like he wants to leave Plymouth and seek out a move and whilst there is still an offer for him to stay with the Pilgrims on the table, it means he could be available on a free.

From me - Let’s not forget Joe mind

Walsh seems to be permanently injured! Maybe football isn't the best job for him.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Was in the League One PFA team of the year when on loan at Coventry. Signed a month before Downes and two before Ntcham, at a time when everyone was convinced Grimes was leaving. Demonstrates why doing business early isn't always a good thing. By the time the season got going there was no room for him.

I went to a preseason friendly he played in (Southampton I think) he got injured after a short time on the pitch and I can’t remember seeing him after that. So it wasn’t there was no room for him

Downes off to Palarse

Yep seems like it.
Rather that than Leeds, although would be nice if there was a bidding war

If he leaves it doesn't bother me in the slightest where he goes as long as we get a decent price.

If Downes going means we keep Piroe and Oba then OK, specially if Joe Allen comes back. Maybe having Joe alongside Grimes will do for Grimes what playing alongside Leon did for Joe?

Just popped in after afternoon in Huddersfield at wedding. Great fans btw.

Been talking about the Swans and Town..
They believe they overachieved and we under achieved .

I’ve explained we have the best stats but they basically looked puzzled

We are looking to offload a great young talent who will be an England player ,just like Guehi, another player we couldn’t replace.

We are blinded by the Light

We aren't looking to offload him, we are looking to cash in. it was always likely thatat leastone of Downes, Piroe or Oba would leave. As I said, if Downes going (and Joe coming in) means Piroe and Oba stay then all the better, we are sorted. The financial hole is filled and we have 3 good players still.

Downes was good for us and has the potential but would he have played for England while still with us, even if we got promoted? Look at Leon, for a short space of time he was one of the best midfielders in the EPL, his stats were amazing and then England chose Leon Osman instead. That was atravesty to many of us at the time and many of us thought it was as much a case of Everton v Swansea as anything else. Many other smaller clubs only see their players get capped when they move to bigger clubs, look at Harry Maguire, is he good enough for Manyoo let alone England?

I quite like Huddersfield, I enjoyed my trips to Leeds road, haven't been to the Kirklees though.

Guehi was never our player, he was a loan, we were always going to have to replace him. it's why I am not so keen on loans. if you are deperate or a loan will definitely improve you then ok but as we have seen (and Guehi is definitely one of them, Brewster too) we have loaned players in and improved them for other clubs to cash in, we should improve our own youngsters first, loans should be a last resort not an ongoing strategy.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Let's hope so as Grimes can be a hell of a player with the shackles off

For me he’s a hell of a player anyway.
