If Covid Restrictions Come Back 19:00 - Jul 2 with 3364 viewsJack123

If covid restrictions come back in the Winter, would anyone adhere to them? I was out earlier today shopping, and I noticed that unmasked staff from a few weeks ago, were now wearing them.

Personally I will never wear a mask/muzzle again,.

I sense the build up of this, hopefully it's nothing, but we can't go through that again.

I can't believe the line still being trotted out, that the vaccination didn't stop me having covid, so it didn't work. Unbelievable.

Yeah it shows a huge amount of ignorance about how the immune system works. But then they’ve discovered the truth off some bloke making videos in his basement on YouTube so who are we to question that sort of knowledge?

I can understand the caution in the beginning when it was a completely novel virus and we didn’t know how bad it potentially could be. My frustrations as well as that for many others is that as time went on and people started getting vaccinated the restrictions carried on and even got tighter. Also it became clearer that although this thing may still be higher risk for certain groups (the elderly and immuno-compromised folk), for the huge majority of the population it would be a low risk hugely survivable illness that would just go away in a few days. It just seemed completely out of proportion.

And this nonsense about “overwhelming the NHS” just shows what a shoddy state our health services are in in the first place. It should always be ready and able to deal with any sudden health emergency. That’s the point of it. We became complacent and started to think that disease and pandemics were a thing of the past.

Also while I’m in the mood for a little rant the cabal of criminals who have been running this show for the last forty odd years have created a system where we are squeezed until the pips squeak through various taxes, NI, Fuel Duty, VAT etc. But when we actually need the services we pay all this money for it’s unavailable. Having a heart attack? Need an ambulance? Sorry we are short staffed due to cuts, one will be along in about 17 hours so just hang on in there buddy. We pay for these services essentially from the day we’re born until the day we die. And yet this money is funnelled out via contracts to whichever entity is donating to the government at the time. And then when things go tits up like they did with covid we aren’t ready for it. The service is “overwhelmed”. But they don’t care, they have their own private doctors.

We are being fiddled and rogered like a visitor to a bbc dressing room in the seventies.

Great post FD, there is enough validated evidence on lock downs and mask wearing from different countries for people to make up their own minds as to sit in the house and self isolate or risk the great outdoors with an ineffectual mask each to their own.

I worked through and saw a variety of people infected with different levels of the virus, i still don't know of anyone dying from Cov19 only. I do however know some VERY fit people who were bolloxed with lung damage with over a year estimated recovery.

As for the NHS the mismanagement is beyond belief, limited highly qualified critical care nurses and doctors performed heroics whilst the majority of hospitals gp's closed. I have heard of situations where Doctors closed surgery then went to give jabs WTF?
I have recently had to use the rubber glove department, its an age thing apparently i didnt like it, HOWEVER this is the standard we should expect from our NHS absolutely superb. Docs-hospital contact-scan-hospital contact etc texts to remind you or to cancel appointments follow up bloods a 1month turnaround credits where its due. Give them a performance pay rise as their employee i reccomend it. As for the rest behave if it was on performance they would starve to death.

And id like to add why didn't care homes have enough PPE, you would think paying over $1500 a month you would be looked after if there was an outbreak of say Norovirus etc. They need looking at?

Well care homes are often private businesses. PPE is a cost. It affects their bottom line. The owners don’t care about their customers. It’s not like they can go elsewhere if they aren’t happy with the service. I sincerely hope I’m dead before I need to go into one of these places. If I get to that point just shoot me in the head.

Again i agree completely, but the point i was trying to make was the total lack of planning for an outbreak. Nursing homes i would have thought should carry relevant PPE for Flu etc as a given.

And why are the care home workers not being given a substantial pay rise NOW not Railway workers on over 40k

It’s not lack of planning, it’s saving costs. Why sign off thousands of pounds for equipment you might not need? If a 95 year old dies of the flu you just chalk it up as natural causes and get the next resident in.

Honestly in the private sector cost is king, people who haven’t worked there would be amazed at the lengths some bosses go to when they are under pressure for delivering cost. I briefly worked at a place where the boss was refusing to sign off on bog roll for the staff toilets. If we wanted a shit in work we had to bring our own.

I’m really glad, you may have been lucky. He saw many die including healthy colleagues

You are correct, sorry about the 'I'm alright jack attitude', it's a horrible thing. And looking at what happened to other people, I was lucky.

Or did it create what we have now as opposed to what it could have been ?

That’s the issue mate we only know what we know from what we did, not from what we could have done.

That is very true. A lot of people, myself included have come around to several different ideas. Some of them, knowing what we know just seem right but we cannot know unless we ever have to use them.

Take the lockdowns, it look like the best idea was to only have the most vulnerable shiedl, those least at risk could have carried on. It would still have meant problems for schools and workplaces, we'd still have needed furlough, distancing and mask wearing in confined spaces but a lot of the world could have carried on.

People who still deny the vaccines work though, still wrong. I was one of the vulnerable told to shield. I had my vaccines and when I caught covid I barely even noticed.

What we know about what we did was that a good chunk of it was wrong, pointless and cost everybody a lot of money.

That's still not the big problem if covid comes back in force though, it's still what Bojo and those others did that'll cause the issue because people will not follow him again.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Will the next lockdown or wfh orders be to preserve fuel? Could a covid lockdown provide cover for such rationing without raising alarm bells?

I didn’t get vaccinated and didn’t catch covid. On the rare occasions that I had a cough/allergy, I isolated to protect others. Yet for as long as I can remember, every time I’ve been in public groups there’s at least one person nearby with an unpleasant hacking cough. Does anyone else notice this in the office, trains, cinema etc?

I can’t see the public agreeing to it, nor do I believe the economy could withstand another widespread lockdown.

Of course the public will agree to it. Many people had over a year off on nearly full pay. My mate and his wife had a baby during lockdown so he got to spend far more time with his son than he would have if he was away working. That sort of time is precious.
