G had no team mates, had to do all the chasing himself, has a Tour and Time Trial in his legs and no inclines to punch away on ... tbh it was not the race for him, he'd have been better as domestique for one of the other welsh team mates. Was still willing him to time trial his way in for the last couple of ks though!
As to the commonwealth games in general - has been interesting to watch as a bit rough with covid, but notable how limited the competition is in general and how many have stayed away. BBC have thrown everything at it, but barely mentioned the world athletics a few weeks back. | | | |

I've loved it, British athletes have done really well. Great performance by Wales overall, especially in the boxing.

He had to go early, he's not a sprinter. It's a pity he did not go about 10k out but I don't think he had it in his legs, particularly after chasing down a lot of breaks. As someone else said, he did not have any team support. In that sense the English, with 3 riders up there, blew it. Still it was a superb race given that it was essentially a sprinters one.
