| Bernadette Devlin 07:54 - Aug 25 with 983 views | trampie | Interested in any books on her out there, I see she done an auto biography when she was something like 21 but nothing since. Losing her parents young, her Catholic upbringing, her views that don't always conform with being Catholic and being Republican she is very much her own person, I've seen a couple of interviews on the net and she seems a very interesting person. What happened to her and her daughter during the troubles, her experience of the house of commons, banned from countries, giving the keys to New York to the black panthers, her civil rights activism makes for an interesting story, most people are products of their environments and she maybe but not fully as she will 'go against the grain' on some topics. | |

Republicans traditionally don't take their seat as they don't recognise the British state in the North of Ireland but she did take her seat because being young and naive she thought that the English where unaware of the situation out there, she thought that she could tell them that a section of the community was discriminated against as regards housing, jobs and the vote and things would be corrected, much to her dismay she found out they knew what was going on and was happy and encouraged the situation, they would not allow her to speak on what happened in the Bogside when she was there and it's a rule that any member of the house that is a witness to an incident gets to speak on it, then the secretary of state lied about what happened so she hit him.

It’s much easier for them to stick bombs on boats and in shopping centres. They’re no better than the jihadist scum that targeted those kids at the Ariana Grande concert.

I was going to say that I would not expect anything less of a good Catholic girl but then I remembered the short skirts amongst other things.

Her talks are entertaining she clearly likes a joke, some think the IRA fought the might of the entire British army to a complete standstill, I don't think she subscribes to that, but there again who won ? - are they second class citizens anymore ? Her thing is class, she thinks the working class and poor is as badly off now as then (worse off in certain circumstances), people wrongly think she had the same aims as the IRA, that is wrong the IRA had some of the same causes as her, she is all about the elites and the poor. The Irish had a cause, it's widely accepted that they had a cause, something's in my view they did were not acceptable, but we caused them to rise up. The British fought a dirty war, it's all starting to come out in recent years, there has been some excellent documentaries made on the subject, somethings it is thought we allowed to happen not to blow our spies cover and when I say our spies I don't necessarily mean Rupert from Tunbridge Wells or Dai from Cardigan but paddies that were turned, collusion was also a dirty weapon we used that has also started to come to light in recent years.
