The fact Harry has been summoned alone is enough to tell you the good old girl is on the brink or gone already. She’s had a long healthy life. Hope she goes quickly and painlessly.

Ricky Gervais said that his wish for everyone is that one night they fall asleep and simply drift away. Sounds good to me

Well the royal family and their medical team has a history of helping monarchs fall asleep and drift away if you get my meaning. It’s the right thing to do once a person reaches a certain point. Shame it’s not available for the rest of us but that’s a different thread.

| The Queen on 17:06 - Sep 8 with 1428 views | britferry | Off WOL: The plans contained in Operation London Bridge will see a short, formal and historic announcement will bring the country to a halt. TV and radio stations won't broadcast what you're expecting to see, instead, long practised plans will be enacted and newsreaders wearing black will fill the screen. Sports fixtures will stop, events will be cancelled. The Stock Exchange will close and Parliament will hastily reconvene if not in session. Airline pilots will make a special announcement to passengers in the air, flags across the country will be put to half mast. And it will all start with a coded phrase being uttered. It is understood the chosen phrase will be "London Bridge is down", which will be said on a secure phone line. Hundreds years of tradition will kick into action alongside plans that have been tailored to the unique situation of today's Royal Fmaily. We now know for example, she has said she wants her son Prince Charles' wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, to be known as "Queen Consort". In a message released for her Platinum Jubilee in February 2022, the Queen said: "When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service." Plans are also being drawn up for Prince Charles' coronation. Known as "Operation Golden Orb" it would be less lavish than the Queen's in 1953 which reportedly cost the equivalent of £46m. The latest updated plans set a schedule for 10 days between her death and the funeral. The day itself is called D-Day with each following day before the funeral called D+1, D+2 etc. It will all begin with a telephone call from the Queen's private secretary to the prime minister and the privy council office, which coordinates government work on behalf of the monarch. This begins a cascade of telephone calls informing every arm of the state. The first official announcement will be made by St James’s Palace. When the last monarch died - the Queen's father, George VI - the official announcement was just two sentences long. Within a day, Prince Charles will be confirmed as king and will hold an audience with the prime minister and the cabinet. He start on a tour of the UK which will take him to services and ceremonies including at Llandaff Cathedral, Cardiff, seven days after the Queen's death - D-Day+7. On the 10th day, the state funeral will be held with a two-minute silence across the nation, processions in London and Windsor and a committal service in St George's Chapel, Windsor, and a burial in the castle's King George VI Memorial Chapel. The UK Parliament and the devolved legislatures in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will adjourn for 10 days. There are plans for black banners on government websites and for profile pictures to revert to departmental crests. Non-urgent publications will be stopped and retweets banned without approval from the central government head of communications. [Post edited 8 Sep 2022 17:06]

Look after your family & friends and don't worry about anyone else because they certainly don't worry about you. She had to be forced to go to Aberfan to visit those poor families.

That would mess up one of David Cotterill's theories that she's going to die tomorrow as part of some conspiracy linked to numbers and lizards or something.

| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

I think despite the titles and palaces and the riches and all the servants, living in that goldfish bowl 24 hours a day for seventy odd years with the eyes of the world on you there must be a time where you yearn for a more “normal” life. It can’t be much of a life in that sense there are a hell of a lot of sacrifices that come with the role.
