Its sad what happened to Molly, with the SM algorithms feeding even more suicidal posts her way, why can't these sophisticated algorithms notify the companies as to what is happening or are they just there to promote advertising? Fortunately, I must be in a tiny minority who have never ever registered for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc, etc I choose what online content/articles I wish to engage and interact with and most certainly it works for me but then again I am a ‘technophobe’ according to my ‘twentysomething’ sons (in a loving banter kind of way!) but as I tell them I’m 100% happy with carrying that label if it means I don’t have to be hounded and brainwashed by these scumbags.

Absolutely spot on. It is almost impossible for the social media companies to track everything going on. Parents have a responsibility to keep an eye on their kids and for us that means no tech in bedrooms, everything is done in front of the family.

i think the social media platforms need to do more, definitely but I also agree that parents need to do more. Our son is 14 and very protective of his phone, he hates the fact that his account is linked to me so I see what he looks at on the internet. I pointed out that it's my job until hes 18 and I can always stop his internet completely, or take his phone away. We've moved on past that now though, he's learned to deal with it.
