| You use your subs when a player is clearly injured on 17:05 - Oct 4 with 492 views | sw02sea | If your a player and you know your carrying an injury, it’s hard to give 100% concentration. Naughton was definitely at fault for their 2nd goal, and for the 1st goal, didn’t get a block in for the shot. Without doubt he should have been sub’d earlier, as he had an obvious shoulder injury. Ok we won in the end by 2 good substitutions, but some of our defending is at times shambolic. Wingbacks are not doing their defensive duties half the time, and this game wasn’t a one off. There was one cross to our back post, and a West Brom player was on his own but totally fluffed a left footed shot wide, with Manning 10yrds adrift of him. | | | |

I rate Naughton very highly and previously was my first name on the team sheet. But unfortunately his time is coming to an end and needs to be eased out and his long term replacement eased in
| You use your subs when a player is clearly injured on 18:49 - Oct 4 with 431 views | RichardO | Manning does tend to lose his concentration when defending at times and Naughton has his issues especially if exasperated by shoulder injury but they are our most experienced defenders perhaps Martin wanted to keep a settled defensive team on the pitch given the low position we had found ourselves in. We know eventually Naughton will have to give way that may be brought forward because of the injury, I think Darling will be the replacement it is just a matter time, or will he go for Joe Latibeaudie? | | | |

The frustrating thing is we actually defend quite well when teams attack us. Where we really struggle, it went away for a bit, but was back on Saturday, is just gifting chances when we’re in possession and not under real pressure. Naughton for their second was a prime example.
