No, they were definitely needed. I hated every second but they were needed.
No, we were just kicking the can down the road,.
It's something than can never be proven though, but now looking back, did all the lockdowns and mask wearing work, I would say not.
Crumbs a few years ago, they were fining people nearly a grand for driving on their own from Bridgend to Carmarthen.
They only stopped the charade of lockdowns, because they knew the majority had enough of it, what happened then? Nothing, no massive increase in hospital admissions, thing is the ones calling for the lockdowns had their wish, they had their wish with shops and pubs closed, they had eveything they wanted, and we are still paying for it now, so with hindight, it has to be if you could go back in time to march 20, no lockdowns,

Kicking the can down the road was exactly what they were supposed to do. Without them society would have crumbled and I'm not being melodramatic when I say that.
Lockdowns stopped when people were vaccinated. That's what is keeping people out of hospital.

His PhD is in making videos. His first degree is in biology, which could include as much plant biology as anything else and he studied health science for a year.
I am as academically qualified as he is but my degrees are from Russell group universities rather than the university of Bolton.
He has no academic qualifications that allow him to practice medicine. Why anyone would believe a word that comes out of his mouth before or after being underlined by his fountain pen is beyond me. He is doing nothing more than playing to his subscribers wishes. It's like onlyfans for antivaxxers.
What on earth is this data supposed to demonstrate? That there are excess deaths? We know that. But it does nothing to show what the root cause of these are. He's insinuating that they can be attributed to a root cause but provides no evidence of that cause.
One thing that is clear from the first minute of his "talk" is that the root cause isn't vaccination
Yeah the video is full of insinuation. He’s done very well to talk for fifteen minutes without actually saying anything. I thought it was incredibly insensitive of him to shoehorn in the death of a random woman though.
On the issue of excess deaths relating to heart problems there’s a far more likely cause. The speed that treatment arrives has increasingly got slower over the last few years. If you have the symptoms of a heart attack, phone an ambulance and it arrives within ten or fifteen minutes your chances of survival remain quite high. But I think everyone on here will have anecdotal stories of phoning an ambulance and having to wait hours. The chance of survival drops every minute in these circumstances. Also there are more obese people now living more sedentary lifestyles gorging on pop and crisps, it’s inevitable that more people will be having heart troubles.
The anti vaxers remind me of these paranormal investigators you see on the telly Bumbling around an old house in the dark and every creak every movement of air or slight noise and they shout “GHOST!” Despite there being a thousand more likely completely logical explanations.
And it’s got this guy 2.5 million subscribers. That’s absolutely insane. I nearly fell into a coma watching him for five minutes.

I suppose that's something we can never find out.
At the moment I'm thinking the negative aspects of lockdown far outweigh the positives, for the duration it went on for, no.
It has to be an impossibility and pure hypothetical guesswork to say, if there were no lockdowns then it would have been a lot worse, that is just a hunch.

The last statement is true. We can never know what would have happened without lockdown. Anyone who says Neil Ferguson's model was wrong does not take into account we did lockdown. You can only reduce transmission of infection by 1. Reducing contacts or 2. Reduce susceptibility of a population. The former allowed the latter. That's Epidemiology 101, but something many never grasp.
As for 'faux' expert Campbell. Just ask why he went all anti-vax? Perhaps the huge income his monetised YouTube chenille brings. He did some useful stuff around hygiene early on. His understanding of infection and virology is meh. He does not understand immunology at all. Nor do many.
His actions are borderline criminal.
The first two lockdowns were needed, but by the second it was apparent that there should NOT have been outdoor restrictions (with distancing) and the second was too late thanks to the influence of the GBD crew, which meant it was far longer than need have been. The Government were negligent in this. As they were over contracts.

Anyone who says that Neil Ferguson's model was wrong has probably seen every other model that he's been involved with.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Experts aren't always right, some (so it seems) are rarely right.
When people (like Campbell) aren't even eperts, just shit stirrers, why do people think they are right?
It's not even stirring. It's grifting. He is telling idiots what they want to hear through a thin veneer of respectability. Data its cherry picked and lovingly underlined to reinforce at best misinformation, at worst criminal lying. 2.5 million subscribers and huge views is making him money off misery. Also see Ivor Cummins, Claire Craig, Michael Yeardon. All on the make.

He’s probably ‘earning’ around £8k a month for his videos according to YouTube monitoring sites but this time last year it was around £70k a month.
A couple of observations here from a long time reader, new poster living on the otherside of the world.
A lot of people on here demonising anyone that has anything negative to say about the vaccine. Something that has been a constant for the last year or so. This I believe plays a big part of why we are not getting to the root cause, If you can't listen to both sides of an argument then how are you supposed to debug the issue in a constructive way?
Just for the record I know of at least 4 close friends who have suffered as a result of the vaccine, 3 spent at least a month in hospital with Myocarditis and 1 with pericarditis (sic) all were told by their respective dr's that the issues were vaccine related.
I know many more friends and colleagues who are vaccinated that have been constantly ill since being inoculated, they tell me that that they feel their immune system is not functioning correctly and they just feel constantly drained in-between bout's of illness.
On the flip side I know many who have been vaccinated without any side effects, or at least nothing too serious.
Taking all of the above on board and knowing 100% that there is a never one size fits all solution to anything, I do believe there is strong evidence out there that all is not well with the roll out of the vaccine. Was it rushed too quickly? possibly.
The more we learn about the virus the more we learn about what went on behind the scenes, - massive transfers of wealth - Fraud on a massive scale when it comes to covid deaths V death with covid - tests not completed when we were told things had been fully tested - safe and effective? - Lack of debate and no questions allowed - Anything negative and your shutdown immediately with conspiracy theorist, anti vaxer quips - sudden increase in excess deaths heart stroke etc since the roll out.
It beggars belief that we can't ask questions about the last 3 years when we were told - You can't go outside - You have to wear a mask - you can't stand up in a pub - you can't take your mask off unless you are eating or drinking - You can't stop and say hello to your neighbour if you see them in the shop - You can't enter a football stadium unless you prove you have been vaccinated - You can't visit a dying relative - you can't attend a funeral of a loved one and comfort the people attending I could go on but all this whilst the government were having parties and boozy sessions and completely ignoring any restrictions that they had imposed on people.
The logic of everything that has gone on is completely baffling

Without replying directly to the points in your post I think your reply in this thread is symptomatic off this entire debate.
This is a thread about excess deaths of unknown root cause, a youtuber, who is known for promoting an anti-vax and anti-lockdown message, seems to have insinuated they may be caused by vaccines. There is absolutley no evidence that they have but there are a myriad of other factors that are likley to contribute to them.
I'm in my mid 40's I have a number of friends who are Dr's and others who are paramedics. I always discuss the vaccines with them, primarlily because I hate Covid restrictions, and the thought of the vaccines not working or being available will result in the return of restricitons. Not one of those friends has raised any concerns, either directly or through patients they have treated, about the vaccines and all are fully vaccinated and boosted themselves. I know nobody who has experienced anyting other than minor vaccines side effects, and haven't anecdotally heard of anybody who has.
The vaccines are safe and effective all the sensible science proves that. Not neccessarily 100% percent safe, becasue no medicines are. They passed all neccessary safety criteria.
They don't completely stop infections and they don't completely stop transmission and nobody has ever claimed they do.
What I think is telling is that there is no sensible science or consistent argument that questions the safety and efficacy of the vaccines. Only people like "Dr " John Campbell, Robert Malone and Mike Yeadon.
I honestly think all of those points and questions have been asked and addressed, certianly in the UK. Many have been agreed to be a farce and in part brought down a prime minister.
I don't think there is a conspiracy or cover up, although there have been many massive f*** ups however.

100%.
Some of the first wave mistakes are forgivable as no one really understood what this was.
But it was soon apparent that surface (fomite) transmission was a nonsense. As was banning activity with sensible distancing. But disastrous PPE procurement, the car crash test and trace programme and the absolute hypocrisy of ministers (including Johnson) will never be forgiven

Excellent post. The surface transmission was nonsense. The PPE was a shambles, so was the test and trace. I agreed about the social distancing though as any relaxation of this would have been abused. a line had to be drawn somewhere

This YouTuber is highlighting this “excess death” data whilst insinuating it’s a direct result of people getting the vaccine knowing it will drive idiots to click on his videos making him lots of money.
There’s no science behind it, it’s just pure insinuation.
These people are pure scum, they are not helping the debate. They are cashing in on it.
To refer to your anecdotal stories about your friends getting myocarditis, it was highlighted on the leaflets they gave you before the vaccination that this is potentially a side effect of the vaccine especially in men under forty.
When I went for my second jab the nurse specifically warned me about the symptoms of myocarditis and that I am at risk of experiencing symptoms. The flip side is of course is that actually contracting covid gives you a greater chance of myocarditis and a higher potential for more dangerous symptoms.
The big problem with covid early on especially is that it had a higher than usual potential for triggering excessive auto immune responses such as cytokine storms in otherwise fit and healthy younger people which led to inflammation and potential failure of internal organs. Remember a lot of the symptoms you have when you’re ill is caused by the bodies response to the pathogen rather than the pathogen itself. So a vaccine that stimulates a similar response can often lead to the same symptoms including the more serious ones but the chance of this is lessened. This is completely normal.
Myocarditis is in itself an incredibly common and generally mild side effect of any infectious illness and in the huge majority of cases is incredibly harmless to the point you don’t even know you have it. The way people have jumped on it to insinuate it’s some evil side effect of an evil vaccine even though it is completely normal and completely expected is completely idiotic.

As the old saying goes "Ignorance is bliss".
If you had even bothered a cursory glance at the Video you would have seen this. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.go Read it and see if you are still prepared to make your statement.
The last line of their summary and I quote "We did not observe an increased incidence of neither pericarditis nor myocarditis in adult patients recovering from COVID-19 infection."

There are over 1,900 publications on PubMed relating to myovcarditis, covid and vaccines. Because you are stupid enough to watch vides rather then read actual literature you may find that myocarditis. pericarditis and cardiomyopathy are amongst the most frequent sequelae post-SARS CoV2 infection.
As I said, faux expert Campbell is playing to audience of idiots, taking you for a mug whilst raking in cash.
They are dangerous people who distract from dealing with any actual vaccine issues by making things up, or cherry picking a single fruit from an orchard of information.
I suspect you are too far gone to realise.

I'd suggest that paper is of limited use to demonstrate that Myocarditis or Pericardiitis are more or less likely to occur after covid vaccination or infection. If that's what you are trying to demonstrate? Of course I'm not claiming to be an expert, I don't have a youtube channel or a purple pen to underline things for you and have only read the abstract, but it does say:-
"We aimed to study the incidence of post-acute COVID-19 myocarditis and pericarditis."
What about post non-acute COVID 19, which is the case with at least 80% of covid cases?
"Inpatient myocarditis and pericarditis diagnoses were retrieved from day 10 after positive PCR"
We know most cases do not require hospital treatment as an inpatient, they've been omitted from the study - so what about those?
We also know that the cardiac side effects from vaccination, although very rare, seem to largely occur in younger men. If this is insinuating a link with vaccination surely it would be better to focus a study on this group?
As these studies have - involving nearly 7 times more covid patients than the one you linked did. They also focus on any level of covid severity and cardiac issue.

To cut a long story short. That paper is cherry picked.
Thank you for providing those studies, which I doubt you actually read. The first and only larger study, so not 3 studies with nearly 7 times the number of COVID patients was conducted by mostly Pfizer financed individuals. It has no Control Cohort and was based in the USA using Hospital data up to 6 months after Covid. It had 718,365 COVID-19 patients, of the 718,365 patients with COVID-19, 35,820 (5.0%) developed new-onset myocarditis and 10,706 (1.5%) developed new-onset pericarditis. So 6.5% overall. The other 2 studies also in the USA were conducted on College Athletes and the results for both contradict the first study. However they were primarily justifying using CMR imaging to find heart damage. Both studies were also conducted without a Control Cohort, even though athletes without COVID were available. The second study of only 1597 Athletes found Quote "If cardiac testing was based on cardiac symptoms alone, only 5 athletes would have been detected (detected prevalence, 0.31%) Quote "While 5 of 9 athletes with clinical myocarditis had abnormal additional testing results (ECG, echocardiogram, or troponin), only 8 of 28 with subclinical myocarditis had abnormal additional testing." So with non CMR testing a further 8 (0.5%) athletes were found to have symptomless myocarditis. The third Study of 3018 athletes was similar to the first but with this quote "First, cardiac evaluation conducted in accordance with current recommendations, which suggest risk stratification based on SARS-CoV-2 symptom burden to determine the role of triad testing and CMR, had a diagnostic yield for definite, probable, or possible cardiac involvement of 0.5% "
So how can there be so much difference between a USA study and an Israeli study? Well one thing we know is that in the USA we have no idea what the levels would have been for Non COVID patients because they didn't test any in any of the 3 studies.

That's just diversion isn't it?
Why is a control group needed?
The studies clearly demonstrate an increase in cardiac issues after Covid infection.
Why does the paper that you linked on here only consider actute covid paitients?
Why does the paper that you linked on here only consider the very worst cases of cardiac issues that needed inpaitient treatment?
The papers I linked consider all aspects of post covid cardiac issues - the subjects of the two much smaller studies are younger men and I make no apology for that. That is the group that people claim are developing cardiac issues post vaccination.
So, to answer your question, why the difference betwen the US and Israeli study? You just need to answer the two original questions I asked.
The Israeli study only considers the very worst case scenarios of both Covid and cardiac issues. It omits the vast majority of both, the US study is far larger and more comprehensive. The isreali study has been cherry picked by a charlatan to put on a youtube channel and reposted on her by a gullible fool.
These studies may not be designed to compare covid infection cardiac issues to vaccination cardiac issues, but in UK the post vaccination cardiac issues occur in less than 0.01% of people. That seems to be the case across the world and regardless of vaccine used.
I'll take my chances on the 0.01% v 6.5%.

That's just diversion isn't it?

Did you really just ask why a "Control" is needed? How about to establish what the normal non COVID level of Myocarditis is in hospital patients and non hospitalised people? At least the Israeli study was conducted properly. It is a pity you didn't read the first study. If you had you would know that 16.9% of those in the study already had Heart trouble (Ischemic heart diseases 9.4% (1,689) & Heart failure 7.5% (1,339). The study was to look at not only severe COVID cases, but also severe outcomes and yet they also had 43.8% with Diseases of the respiratory system, 30.8 % with Hypertensive diseases and 16.6 % with Diabetes mellitus as well as heart problems before they had COVID.

And that paper only looks at 10 days post PCR positive. Most cardiac-related sequelae emerge 10-40 days post diagnosis. That suggests you also now believe PCR as a diagnostic!

That's exactly what I asked. You seem to think it was and the lack of one means it wasn't prpoerly conducted.
The study wasn't aimed at establishing the "normal non COVID level of Myocarditis is in hospital patients and non hospitalised people?" was it? Myocarditis is caused after an infection. Covid is an infection.
It was an observational study to establish the incidence of cardiac issues after covid infection at a population level, which it did very well. Hence the lack of control group and absolutely no need for one.
The incidence of cardiac issues post vaccination is a seperate observational study.
These studies demonstrate that you are more likely to develop cardiac issues after infection than vaccination.
Thanks for mentioning that - it just makes the Israeli study more biased really.

You obviously suffer with the same kind of reading comprehension as scotia. Quote "Inpatient myocarditis and pericarditis diagnoses were retrieved from day 10 after positive PCR" From day 10 onwards not up to day 10. Quote "Follow-up was censored on 28 February 2021, with minimum observation of 18 days." Therefore a minimum of 10 to 28 days after tesing. No, I don't believe in PCR as a diagnostic, but they all do. You can only accept what they decide to use.
Of course the majority of post Vaccination cardiac-related sequelae do emerge within 10 days.
