| Why do we posts on forums on 14:58 - Nov 17 with 964 views | KeithHaynes | I was talking with Phil s the other day about this. Forums appeal to a certain demographic, definitely older and in the main for people who like to discuss and debate. The abuse side of things rarely happens these days compared to other times on here. It may lose a few people, but really are they worthy of being in your lives ? | |

Funny enough we often discuss certain threads on this forum in which I have been involved. Especially some of the notorious all nighters...

| Why do we posts on forums on 13:32 - Nov 19 with 757 views | Sirjohnalot | I find the football forum, especially, really educational. As people know, my background and upbringing was Neath rugby, so reading the forum from proper Swans fans is brilliant. I tend not back away from any proper football conversation as I don’t know what I’m talking about. Love reading real insights | | | |
| Why do we posts on forums on 15:06 - Nov 19 with 735 views | Wingstandwood | Definitely educational, you can come across information/fact(s) that you would never have thought to Google, or on occasions find out information/fact(s) that is not on Google anyhow. It also teaches you what others truly think i.e. from downright sensible to downright disproven conspiracy lunacy etc. I have also been educated grammatically to use etc instead of "ect" and to use "sow" instead of "sew" in "reap what you sow". Never would have known that if it wasn't for this forum! | |

Should clarify the discussion takes place with Phil S on matchdays. The all night discussions were generally with a poster from down under, not you ?

That used to be true, although not too many enjoy debate these days. Like most mediums of communication, people are generally offended by debate and immediately see any disagreement as an argument and get combative. People want agreement in the current times, nothing else will do. It is certainly a sign of the times. You see it in the political arena too, nobody can discuss anything anymore without wanting the opposition to their views silenced in some capacity, be that by force, personal attacks/discrediting and in some instances even threatened with their livelihood and jail. These forums aren’t too different and usually reflect the times. I’ve seen the change in the last 3-4 years specifically where different views to the norm or the accepted are utterly despised, militant positions where the finer details never getting a chance to be explored as people just are too entrenched.
