I did not mention that he was a Tory. My point related to the hypocracy of certain lawmakers be they Tory, Labour or any other Party. 'Quite' decent he may be but he should set an example. If those who make the Laws cannot abide by them, what hope for respect. | | | |

You think his 6 months ban for driving with a phone in his hand and therefore not concentrating on what’s going on around him and a danger to all is harsh??
Maybe if a loved one of yours had been hurt, maimed or killed by such a driver would concentrate the mind. It’s not as if people are unaware of it being an offence and clearly in this case he felt he was above the law. | |

All of what you say is correct john BUT what he did does call into doubt his judgement. He has to vote in Parliament on very important issues and he does this very stupid thing.
Lets not forget that he sits there and passes laws that tell the rest of us what we can and cannot do but then he breaks rules, or at least this rule, more than once.

Parking on a yellow isn't inherently dangerous, doing 90 on the M4depends on the traffic, the weather/road conditions but is inherently dangerous at a basic level.
For me it's the recklessness of making that choice again after having already being caught. Not to forget public perception, a lot of people are looking at him and seeing a politician saying "Don't do as I do, do as I say" | |

When it comes to our politicians I'm a regular Judge Jeffries, I think our politicians should be held to the very highest standards.
Break the law once, ok, benefit of the doubt but do it again and it uestions their ethics, their standards and their ability to make important decisions. He knew he was breaking the law and did it again anyway, that to me is the unforgiveable part. When you knowingly commit an offence it says something about you.
Yes I have knowingly committed driving offences, I have 1 parking ticket and one speeding offence to my name in 33 years of driving. I have recently started a new job, comany policy is no mobile phones not even on hands free and no sat nav on phones not even if it's on voice command and you can put it on the seat next to you and listen to the directions. Company policy says breaking these rules is a sackable offence. | |
