There’s plenty of those about especially on Twitter and Instagram. In Russell Martin’s case this morning he was edged in to answering questions on his Swansea future. It now seems some clever manipulation has been offered to suit the anti Russell Martin narrative, and regardless of our position or any opinion on his future, that’s really poor form.  0

It is quite true.james went to Shrewsbury on loan and struggled ,rodon went to Cheltenham and couldn't get much game time..so what's your point ..as potter was forced to play untried youngsters who went to flourish for him.. |

The rest were waiting on their inevitable call up to the first team. You make it sound like we threw a load of youths together and Potter turned them into stars. They were brought to us for that very reason and Rodon and Roberts were touted as prospects that should be in the starting line up long before Potter.
It was just that we couldn’t bring them in to a side battling Premier league relegation. So Potter wasn’t “forced” to play them, playing them was always part of the plan upon relegation.
He was given £7m to spend, he could have easily brought in a striker, right back and a winger for the first team, he didn’t bother because he didn’t need to. There was no forcing, he was very lucky he had such players at his disposal. [Post edited 19 Feb 2023 9:55]

Potter was forced into playing Rodon, Vav de Hoorn was our only senior centre half left after Fernandez was sold on transfer deadline day (after playing the first league game). We'd already let Amat & Bartley leave.
He spent the first part of the season integrating the young inexperienced players into the team & wasn't helped by the contract situation which made Routledge unavailable for months.
Olsson missed well over half the season due to injury as well.
I'd loved to have seen him have a 2nd season working with that squad but it wasn't to be.

Disagree potter was and still is a good manager..Brighton are reaping rewards what he done there..punching above their weight..if Chelsea give him time and a forward..he will prove his worth..as for man City and rodon..man City were interested when he was young to develop like they do with loads kids with potential..emyr Hughes was same..Dan James rodon..are probably championship standard anyway..overrated the both and done well to get what we did for them..won't be long and Jane's be back in championship,he's on downward spiral.. | | | |

Potter has spent almost as much as Pep Guardiola since his arrival in the Premier League, so it would be incorrect to say they are reaping the rewards of him, as much as reaping the rewards of hundreds upon hundreds of millions spent.
Man City were still sniffing after Rodon when Potter was manager. They had been tracking him for years, so again it wouldn’t be accurate to label him as some youth player we were forced to use who we got lucky with.

He would never refuse a contract, he will take anything he can get. But I highly doubt he will be offered one personally.

I knew Rodon was a prospect as well, I saw him play in the under 21's/23's a number of times over the previous couple of seasons thanks.
