Why do we never have a player or players at the far post on corners or free kicks ?
It’s been like it all season. It amazes me, especially as a lot of balls end up there.

Both in attack and defence, Tymon just left Whittaker waltz past him today, but luckily the ball flew over his head, he was standing just around our 6 yrd box all alone, with a clear header on goal.
I like Tymon he's a decent hard working player, but defensively he looks all at sea. |  |

The set- up for defending corners yesterday seemed to be Nauts (front post), Cabango (free man to attack the ball if delivered around the centre of the box, Ronald left up field which leaves 7 other out field players to mark the Plymouth ones - they kept two back to cover Ronald plus the corner taker gives them 7 other players in/around the box for us to cover.
Only way you can have a back post man is if you pull Ronald back but that then means they can push another player into the box. |  | | |

Fair point WR could be I read it wrong - we are a tad one dimensional on attacking corners/free kicks with Pato trying to deliver a cross to around the space between the penalty spot & six-yard line. His delivery is not bad but for me only Darling* can win & then control/direct a header and with him currently injured we need to be more imaginative - do we even have a specialist corner/free kick coach?
* Cabango & less regularly Wood/Humphries do win attacking headers but really struggle controlling where the ball will go - tbf to Cabango he peeled off to the back post on one of our set pieces yesterday in the second half & won/controlled a header back across the goal but no one from our side could turn it in. | | | |

Just watched if again, Cooper was brushed aside by Whittaker he tried to follow him but was blocked by their number 17 who cleared both Cooper and Yates out of the way, well worked corner and a good strike in fairness. I like Oli but he's very lightweight. |  | | |

Because Williams has got to learn what other managers also had to learn, once he removes him from those duties he will be put as last defender at our attacking corners again another mistake made by other managers.
So many state he has such accurate passing but if I took as long as he does I would be that accurate, seen him over hit through balls for wingers regularly and the party trick over the top very rarely works when he would be better off shooting. [Post edited 5 Feb 9:39]

From what I saw v Plymouth the POMO position for us is 2 yards out with no oppo players even in the box with us. Yates and Patino showed that up. | | | |
