| How many more signings will we make before the window closes? 09:57 - Aug 5 with 8021 views | Swans9 | I will go for 3 one being Rubin. I think we will get out muscled with Campbell he probably will end up at a Sheffield United or club offers best deal. I think 3 is the bare minimum we need without losing any at the same time. | | | | |

| How many more signings will we make before the window closes? on 21:56 - Aug 8 by Dr_Winston | If we assume that at present Cullen and Cooper are likely first team regulars, then they are the obvious two to drop out. Otherwise it's more squad depth that is the concern. We've got a pretty good starting XI if everyone is fit plus four or five others, but after that it starts getting pretty thin unless we start including players like Abdulai, which we probably will but it's nicer to have the option not to depend on them. |
I agree. Could do with a commanding no nonsense centre back too.

For me, Darling has as much potential as anyone in the squad. He's big, strong and comfortable on the ball. Paid the price (as did others) for Martin's complete inability to coach defenders, but is more than capable at this level and probably higher. Cabango is much better on the ball than Garry Monk and he was the least technically capable of the defenders who promoted us last time so again, if LW has anything about him then a starting pairing of Darling/Cabango is fine, but leaves us weak if either are unavailable.

| How many more signings will we make before the window closes? on 23:11 - Aug 8 with 1520 views | GVJack | Darling doesn't seem to be a long term solution though I don't think. Isn't he in his last year of contract? I suspect the vultures will be swooping unless we can tie him down long term. | | | |

Our lack of depth in the squad has been an issue for a few years now. Partly low budget, partly poor recruitment.

Dalling is our major problem, under the new pay structure I can't see him accepting a new contract and if anyone comes in with a sensible offer in the next 3 weeks he will gone. Same with Cullen.

I didn't realise he was in his last year as well, serious questions need to be asked about the clubs planning and strategy.

So what we're saying is.... Sometime between now and the next 12 months we are likely to lose both our first choice centre backs (potentially for free) with Naughton who can cover very likely to retire, and we'll be left with Pederson?

If this pay structure is fixed and rigid then we will lose a lot of layers, will not sign any British players because they'll want more, that or they will be poor and fit only for league 1 at best and our best players will wantto leave and go to clubs who will pay more; there's plenty of those, even in power divisions. Saying that that is all we'll pay in the Championship is just not realisitc, not if they really have any ambition. A decent striker will cost more and some of our players, if they are having ood seasons, will do a "Paterson" on us and we'll end up selling or losing them on the cheap.
