Swansea City : Behind the news on Kim Hellberg coming to Swansea 12th Nov 2025 08:00
Well, good morning to you all. Having soaked up social media to the extent it became laughable we now once again have a club with no head coach / manager. As it stands and let’s be honest that can change in the next few minutes we have Darren O’Dea in the hot seat facing whatever comes next. 0

Very decent rep, click above.

There is that of course but here it is:

OTJ backs Russ or Brendan for return

Owain Tudur Jones has been giving his thoughts on where the Swans should turn next, and says he can see the logic in bringing Brendan Rodgers or Russell Martin back to the club.

Both are out of work after leaving their respective Old Firm sides in Scotland, and both still carry some degree of popularity with sections of the Swans fanbase.

"They do say never go back, but I can see why Brendan Rodgers and Russell Martin would both be good appointments," Tudur Jones told the BBC.

"I think when it comes to Russell Martin, the crazy thing with that situation is that football is very much 'what have you done lately?' and probably around 12 months ago, Russell Martin would have been top of so many clubs' lists of appointments, certiainly in the Championship.

"Whereas, a bad experience at Rangers has obviously tainted the feeling towards him.

"But I still feel that he would be a good fit for the Swans. He will have learned from his experiences over the last 12 months, and arguably will arguably be a better manager than he was 12 months ago, regardless of those experiences.

"They say never go, but both with Brendan and Russ, both at different stages of their careers, both would make sense."

Martin ,for god sake no , he was crap here once so why the desire to repeat .Rodgers has out grown us so let's leave the dreamers dream because that's all they'll be.

Just some thoughts:

1) will we pay compensation to a manager in a job? there are quite few managers (good/not so good) who are available without having to pay hefty compensation for the manager and his back room staff.

2) Russell Martin - surely this has to be unlikely - wasn't there a legal case post his departure? Lets not forget this.

3) Cohen, Cravatt and others are driven by data and have funds available. What they don't have is footballing experience in the EFL. Maybe the CEO needs to appoint an experienced Director of Football (ex-manager) to help a young-upcoming manager.

4) according to ChatGPT - Brendan was on £3m a year at Celtic. We need to be realistic.

If Martin or Rodgers (less so) are being considered at all, never mind how small, I’m off to support Cardiff. I’m that confident they’re not.

This post will self destruct if the ridiculous scenario above materialises😁

OTJ and Russ were at Norwich together, so he’s either:

Being loyal to an old team mate
Been asked by Martin to talk him up
Been taking magic mushrooms.

No updates on anyone this evening. Hellberg seems to be the man if certain people are to be believed. Our contacts in Sweden haven’t heard anything. These guys have been remarkably good this year with Inoussa and Widell so personally I trust them. Of course as we know from that Sheehan news last week, a few hours even a week and anything can change.

The only thing I know for sure is the backroom staff as a unit are in a bit of limbo and the club want their man in rapidly.
