| One Million Idiots 18:22 - Dec 31 with 682 views | johnlangy | There are many things we can be critical about regarding the NHS - doctors going on strike, waste, too many chiefs and not enough Indians, Wes Streeting and the Government. But when you have about a million idiots a year turning up at A & E with minor ailments like coughs and hiccups (seriously), you have to wonder how much better the service would be if these people had just a modicum of common sense. | | | | |

However, in some (not all) of these people’s defence trying to get a GP’s appointment is so difficult that they go to A&E instead, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I believe GO surgeries should be under some sort of obligation to see someone on the day. Pre-COVID it was so much easier. Why has it changed?

This , my local surgery ( ad I'm sure this is happening elsewhere) has only one doctor out of a r total of six named who is a physical presence the rest work from home on a rota system, no wonder no one can get an appointment and just when did it transpire that it now takes a month to have a blood test or a fortnight minimum to have a doctor call you back . No wonder people have taken to visiting A&E for minor ailments but its got to the point thats all the choice thats left to them.

| One Million Idiots on 01:09 - Jan 1 with 542 views | Robbie | Root cause has to be being unable to see a GP on the day and start of an ailment . Send us a photo and a GP will call you back when he has time , no positive set time and as I am well over retirement age sending a photo on my phone is a nightmare , sure many other oldies are in the same or worst situation . Try not to visit A +E in Morriston unless I have limb decapitated , then a last necessary . Have myself seen and know Nurses after their shift in tears of what they go through daily . Get to the bottom of the issue as a starting point . | | | |

Only refund it those who are Genuine Accident and Emergency cases. £50 million a Year extra for the NHS. Watch the queues disappear. Anything free will be abused by people who think they are entitled to it.

It doesn't help when medical staff are trying to treat people who can't speak or understand English and the health service have to source and pay for an interpreter. Patient Right: You have a right to an interpreter at every stage of your healthcare journey, and your provider must arrange it.

I had personal experience of Police requiring interpreters after arrest It’s quite lucrative

And the system is open to abuse and profiteering.

| One Million Idiots on 11:25 - Jan 1 with 396 views | Dr_Winston | As for the main crux of the thread, A&E is treated as a GP service by a lot of people. Some because they're complete idiots, others because their own GP's are useless. I once got told I had a cold by a GP who couldn't be bothered to see me in person then spent much of the next six months on steroids dealing with the after effects of a serious chest infection, so you can understand why some people seek a second opinion. | |

The PC brigade and Human Rights lobby must and will be rubbing their hands with the incoming readies into their Bank Accounts , easy money from the cash cow which is our treasured and necessary NHS . How has the UK got into mess we are in without any Political Party leader having the truth to say , enough is enough , lets not upset the minorities though . Potential future voters are a lifeline for any Politician , vote for me please .
