Globalist types celebrating this might want to take a pause however. Magyar is no Liberal. Indeed, he's just as right leaning as Orban in a lot of areas. Ukraine has its issues, Zelensky is trying to clean it up and they’ve improved 1 place on the list of corrupt countries since last year. Hungary on the other hand is more corrupt the and is only about a half a dozen places in front of the Ukraine. Corruption was a major factor in the election with Orban‘s regime coming under a lot of stick for rampant corruption. Russia is way down the list in 157th with Chad, Honduras and Zimbabwe.
He vetoed the EU funds because he was looking out for Putin - the Hungarian foreign minister signed a hitherto unknown 12 point plan for cooperation and closer alignment with Russia and its reported he offered to send the Russians copies of classified EU documents. Hungary under Orban was a cancer in the EU, by all means pivot towards Russia but don’t expect the benefits of EU membership.
There are reports on line that the foreign minister who’s about to be out of job currently has his shredder going full blast destroying confidential documents.
