Sent this this morning, apparently the guy having a go at Farage is a right wingers as well.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

Can the man stoop any lower than he has with his statement today? An evil and insensitive thing to say.

Not fit to represent anyone.

I'm no fan of his but there have been some weird stuff thrown at him today including an interview I heard with a Green politician who said " Farage should knows this isn't George Floyd you know"

We have some disgusting politicians in many parties.

It's not. It's because Henry Novak's, after his son's murderer had been sentences, stated the family's wish was that the "tragedy is not used to inflame division or hostility".

The next morning Farage announces he's making a statement and does just that, he's a leader of minority party (in Westminster) and has used the death of an innocent young man to further his own political career.

The man is scum.

As I see it the voting public are using Reform as a means to an end, basically shaking up British and Welsh politics. Whether the public support will remain into a General Election who knows but it is certainly currently having the desired effect. There will need to be more substance to Reform policies to get enough votes at a GE. Kemi Badenoch seems to be gaining in popularity and could spring a surprise going forward. The Makerfield by-election is massive if Labour lose this they are completely finished and Reform will get a massive boost, Labour win and who knows what will happen.

I think Badenoch's reply to Farage today was excellent. I also saw an interview with the Reform candidate in Makerfield, the guy is an idiot. If Labour can't beat him they may as well give up.

Sure Two Tier Starmer will take the knee later as he did over George Floyd .

On the tele earlier wringing his hands and going on about his own son as a pathetic excuse to be concerned over the real issues of violence on the streets and feral youngsters .

He will blame Plod again and another enquiry will follow , maybe quite rightly .

Reporters treading on eggshells to get their reporting right or branded racists .

There may have been an issue of tone and Farage’s mention of "pure cold rage" (although plenty of other politicians don’t mind the word “anger"), but is he wrong about two tier policing? Probably I am not going to convince two on the thread, but surely even they must be aware of what is written in black and white in NPCC guidance.

Other politicians too are suddenly realising they are uneasy about police guidance on anti-racism. Yesterday in the HoC even Shabana Mahmood acknowledged that “There have been accusations of two-tier policing…” and said “It will be for the IOPC to determine the facts in this specific case”. The National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) announced it will look into policies in the Race Action Plan. NPCC chairman Gavin Stephens stated that it is "listening to legitimate concerns about how some of these commitments are worded or phrased".

https://policeprofessional.com

Concern centres on the police “Anti-Racism Commitment” which in essence states that in order to achieve equality of outcomes, the police should treat suspects from different ethnic groups in different ways. Officers should not treat everyone the same, or be blind to colour. To quote from the guidance:

“Our commitment to racial equity means
• Producing equality of policing outcomes for people from different ethnic groups by responding to individuals and communities according to their specific needs, circumstances and experiences, with understanding that these will be racialised and with the aim of reducing harm.
It does not mean treating everyone ‘the same’ or being ‘colour blind’ (racial equality).”
https://www.npcc.police.uk/our

Is it fair not to treat different ethnicities equally?

Edit: David Spencer from the Policy Exchange is doing the media rounds today saying much the same thing.

There seems to be huge difference between some of the police anti-racism guidance and DEI, in fact it seems to be hugely contradictory. It's an important line to draw.

It's also important to wait for the full facts to emerge on the poicing around the awful Henry Novak murder. Which is precisly why I'm not commenting.

As far as I understand things, DEI is a social movement that takes rather different forms across a range of institutions and social settings, so I am struggling to grasp your first point. It would be interesting if you can please explain the "line" of difference for the forum?

DEI encompassess everyone. Which is why any movement away from it including aspects of leaving the ECHR is dangerous. Everyone should be treated equally irrespective of race, age, sex, sexuality etc. It is in some ways a social movement but also enshrined in law through equality legislation.

Anti-Racism is only about eliminating racism, but is part of DEI.

They're both essential but very different. I'd also caveat by saying - I'm referring to the very limited police anti-racism guidance that I've seen not the entirity of both.

It is ironic that one of the demographic groups that benefit most from DEI policies comprise the largest demographic who vote for the party who propose to get rid of it.

The one thing I do know is that up to this year the police trained officers on identifying racism at incidents they attend. That’s from a mate at the college of policing who has now left, completely disorientated by what the trainers believe is and isn’t racism. He believes it’s more about what the eye can see as opposed to what their common sense and street experience should tell them.

Tick box certification.

Keith , the days when your colleague would back you up are long gone
My son in law has a myriad of tales that would shock many
It’s a dangerous job, more internally than on the streets

If you are doing something wrong, then they shouldn't back you up, they should intervene
