Football was more raw, accessible and most certainly more about the game than the money. Pitches were a bit different too 😂 A lot of kids grew up on those terraces and learned as they went long. It’s no longer like that, it is sanitised and the costs are out of reach for many. |  |

I'd say that with sports science and everything that a lg 1 club today ( div 3 ) would easily beat a div 1 team on the 70/80's. |  | | |

The Vetch Field was a sight to behold on a Tuesday night game under the floodlights .
Groundstaff made it a treat to visit during the NB days , well done to them . | | | |

There was something so atmospheric to a midweek game under the lights. The lights themselves bright in the sky, the smell of stewed food and cigarette smoke. It was just magical and you could see the lights from way off as you walked towards them. I’ll never forget that atmosphere. |  |

Swansea nick was also a attractive focal point standing on the North Bank too .

My go to place on the NB was right under the TV gantry (would H&S allow that today??) by the roof support pillar. Towards the end I did used to treat myself to the ‘luxury’ of the Centre Stand. I can say that I’ve watched a game from all parts of the Vetch including the old East Bank and Double Decker upstairs and down. | |

The NB as a youngster then as I got older The open east bank ,that was real old school terracing ,railway sleepers and rails , I remember watching the 4-4 with Stockport on a cold evening there ,then under the new stand when it was built | | | |
