He has been at the club a long time but behind Lissah, Congreve, Wilson in the pecking order. His other problem is there are two very tidy prospects in DMF in Dan Watts and the Connah Quay loan player Jacob Cook who has signed an extension.
Also Stamenic, Fulton and Franco in the first team squad. He played quite a bit for Bristol Rovers but they let him go. He was not an auto puck at Falkirk. Another loan beckons but he needs to do more. Wales u21 international. They were poor this season. [Post edited 3 Jun 19:44]

Nice to see Congreve get his first cap for Wales showing skills he had already shown similarly coming on as sub for the Swans in the Championship only to be discarded by Martin after his first team start which ended in him being substituted after 30 minutes or so. Was he ready for the Championship then maybe not, I had seen him in u21 games one as a centre forward which didn't work and one where he looked relatively effective playing on the 'wing' the only thing that irked me was he did the hard work at times tracking back to mark players run but didn't get the right side to ensure the attacking play whose attacking threat seemed to be nullified only for him, to lose track of the player, similar happened in the league Cup game last season where some blamed Parker.
I'm not having a go at Congreve because we have seen the same poor tracking back or players marking the space but giving players too much space being the wrong side of players not being goalside of the attacking player while defiending. In previous seasons Fulton too far off players needing to dive in recklessly that until the play off final was coached out of him by Cooper and in the season just past Fulton looked more of his old self under Matos, Stamenic defending looked not up to Championship standard but has improved with time and good coaching, hopefully Congreve's stint at Dundee has helped him with game time and good coaching to make him the player that we thought he could be when he first played for our first team.
We saw a number of young players and a few older ones deemed not good enough by Martin and sidelined very quickly.
As for the Wales games I previously hadn't thought much of Koumas and Broadbent but given the higher tempo with those younger players we caused Ghana problems that had seemed to have fallen away.Along with Congreve they loolk effective and gained space to fashion the goal [Post edited 5 Jun 8:35]

When we see the youngsters playing for the u21s we tend to look at the positives, whilst the coaching staff who see them every day look at the weaknesses and how to improve them. If they can't improve them anymore they either look to loan them out to try and benifit the player or offload them. Congreve, Cotterell and Lloyd are coming back to a very congested area with a lot of talent there, I think Congreve will become a squad player this season but I have serious doubts about the other two. Wilson I think will have another loan as he seems to be down the pecking order, Wales I think a loan is on the cards. Lissah I think will come straight into the squad. Cooper who is no longer a youngster at 26 will be better for a move away. All just my opinion of course. |  | | |
