| Jason Arday Journalist 22:24 - Aug 5 with 8582 views | JACKMANANDBOY | Arday has resigned after multiple allegations of fraud. What's more interesting is that a journalist investigating him was questioned by the police after allegations of harassment and the police told the journalist to stop investigating! https://share.google/qFyt5Bvu2 | |

He is, but anyone suggesting that until fairly recently would have received a shitstorm of accusations. This is the culture that has been created, and in reality it damages ethnic minorities more because you can never be sure that they're in the roles that they're in because of merit.

Her reputation should be more tarnished than Arday’s for doing that.

He only teaches sociology which is a pseudoscience for all intents and purposes. I imagine becoming the youngest black professor in a subject that very few serious people actually engage in and has only been around for a short time isn’t a massive achievement all things considered.

One of the most perplexing aspects of this case is the quality of Arday's academic research, especially what is left when the plagiarism is stripped out. Sociology is a broad discipline with a lot of good solid research, as well as the stuff that attracts criticism. Arday's work seems to be characterised by tiny convenience samples, absence of systematic analysis, attribution of the same interview extracts to different research participants in different papers, and slavish adherence to CRT with no real theoretical development on the basis of the empirical work. It is mediocre research and very little of it features in quality peer-reviewed journals. Yet somehow this modest CV got him one of the most prestigious chairs in this field. Chelly Halsey (a leading light of the past in sociology of education at Oxford) will be spinning in his grave. As others have said, senior academic staff at Cambridge involved in Arday's appointment, as well as those who signed the Good Law Project petition, have egg splattered all over their faces. It is another setback for Cambridge and the situation of Oxford isn't much better. [Post edited 6 Aug 11:50]

I incline towards the latter. By coincidence, Prof. Norman Fenton has just published a book entitled "The capture of academia." He had to self-publish through Amazon because no commercial publisher would take the book, but from reviews it seems worth a read. https://www.amazon.com/Capture

Policing is a difficult job but some serial offenders do stand out and it is not the job of the police to decide what should and shouldn't be investigated by the press [Post edited 7 Aug 18:19]

Arday's supporters are saying that a white academic would never have faced a similar level of scrutiny from colleagues. Interestingly, a case that comes to mind concerning another sociology professor who fell from a great height, involved a man who did research here in Swansea early in a career that later took him to the top managerial posts in two Australian universities. And his misdeed was simple plagiarism, bad but not the ultimate sin of falsifying research results (which it now emerges Arday did). https://www.timeshighereducati https://www.timeshighereducati https://www.smh.com.au/nationa https://files.eric.ed.gov/full [Post edited 9 Aug 2:18]

| Jason Arday Journalist on 11:12 - Aug 11 with 4576 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | From the Spectator on t’internet: We can reveal that a former supporter of Hizb ut-Tahrir, now banned as a terror group, has been appointed assistant research professor of education at Cambridge, in the same faculty as Arday. Farah Ahmed has explicitly attacked 'western education' as a 'threat' to Muslims, condemned democracy and integration, and criticised British schools for teaching pupils that child marriage is wrong. During her time at Cambridge, she has written that the Islamic concept of education is sharply opposed to 'gaining literacy and numeracy and other disciplinary skills demonstrated through qualifications'. These statements are part of her long record of bigoted, extremist and separatist views on education. ✍️ Andrew Gilligan Article | spectator.com/article/the-problems-with-the-faculty-of-education-go-beyond-jason-arday | @mragilligan | |

A lot of people should be considering their conduct in the case, especially those who pushed an obviously mentally ill liar into positions he should never have been into because they were too cowardly to question some of his claims.

Rather than investigating allegations of falsehoods when they arose there was a systematic denial without any foundation that turned a problem into a clusterfcuk.

Some of my CV reports have lets say over stated my achievements but never lied just flowered them out a bit . Why did Cambridge Dons and their so called thorough background checks and failings let this fella into a role he was so out of his depth in . Guy has lost his life which is tragic , but maybe Cambridge should take a look at themselves and look at their methods of fast tracking the elite obviously not ready or prepared . Do have some sympathy for him though , wrong person in the wrong place .

He should have had the help he so clearly needed but it was also correct that he had to face the accountability and consequences of his actions. A tragic outcome though.

Sick that too many race baiters are now blaming the normal reaction when someone has been outed as a liar . As you say the focus should be directed towards those who allowed this debacle to happen .RIP
