What an absolute bat-s*** crazy state this country is now in!
The threat of having their asulum claim denied is more powerful than having the moral code of normal civilised human beings , that's level of engineers and doctors we're allowing into our country.
"In a free society, the State is the servant of the people—not the master."

Burnhams latest crackpot idea is to give the homeless a roof over their even if they are illegals immigrants arriving daily on their mega dinghies .
440 million quid has somehow been found to fund this latest good cause though .
Every sympathy for the real needy but to chuck money at a problem and hope it goes away is normal Poiltic spinning on the root cause , they all do it .

Examples in small villages may be thin on the ground at present, but where a significant Muslim population forms a mosque usually follows. My guess is that the spread of Asian and Middle Eastern populations into British rural areas will change our culture more than it changes their culture (and especially their religious faith). I don’t agree with a lot the minister in the video clip says, but on this he seems to me to have a point.
Incidentally, I happened upon a recording of a HoC debate from 1980 about immigration that contains a Powell speech. Whatever they may say today, Labour MPs of this period were arguing that cultural differences of immigrant populations in large cities would largely disappear within a couple of generations as they integrated. Alex Lyon said: “when this population stabilizes at about 3.3 million, there really won’t be… there really won’t be any substantive danger such as he [Powell] has argued for in the past because these people will be British and though they will be of Asian or West Indian origin in their ethnic origin they will be British in their outlook and the kind of composition of this society will be different from the one we have at the moment.”
MPs like Alex Lyon, Eric Heffer and Jim Marshall should be brought back to life to see how wrong they were.

None of those are similar to the examples the self titled vicar is referring to. He's deliberately talking about Church Of England buildings being replaced by middle eastern architecture. Not churches and other buildings being used as mosques.
Replacing churches with different style buildings is impossible in most cases due to planning policy and listed building status. So yes he's talking out of his hoop and spreading misinformation.
Personally I have no problem with a ace of worship being used by a different religion. Others may do, I wonder why?
Id rather that than a building becoming a derelict waste like the church in Landore.
From the Brynhyfrhyd article.
"Grade II listed Brynhyfryd Chapel in Swansea has been transformed into the new home of the Muslim Welfare House, a mosque and community hub"
I'm not sure if you're familiar with the building, but externally it's been referred to it's former state. Not a minaret in site.

The interiors of all three buildings have what I would consider to be Middle-Eastern architectural features. In the case of the Muslim Welfare Centre, the ceiling of the large ground floor room with red carpet and many pillars seems to me to follow such a style. The former New Bethel Chapel now has a minaret and a dome. I included links with images so that people could see this. Did you look? There aren't too many C of E churches in Wales, but I am not sure the repurposing of Presbyterian (St Andrew's) , Congregational (Bethel) or Baptist (Brynhyfryd) churches or chapels is much different.

He's not referring to internal features, but even those have to be sympathetic to the listed status. Nobody is ever going to be allowed transform a quiet Devon village church in to a stereotypical mosque with domes and turrets, that's what he implies.
There aren't any C of E churches in Wales, church in Wales is separate but run under the same rules.
He is specifically referring to the church of England because his organisation, the confessing Anglican church, have a massive issue with them. They're far too moderate for them. He's stoking division.

Personally I think architecture is one of the few things that is good about the Middle East these days. They have a lot of truly beautiful buildings.
Question has to be asked who goes to a Church on a Sunday anymore to pray .
Apart from the now regular funerals I seem to be attending recently , Sunday School on that Sunday afternoon was the last time I appreciated that place painting in their annex .
Use it or lose it , I am in the latter sadly and I hold my hand up as to not bothering .
Will mosques and religion take over Christian faith and ideas or work together for peace .
In the current climate we are in and no Leadership from the top as to a way forward to create diversity in the mess we are in .
We are doomed I tell ya , doomed . Dads Army line by the way .

Assimilation is the key. We already have a population of people who are outwardly English or Welsh or Scottish. They sound like us talk like us and act like us dress like us but are Muslim. Mostly Bangladeshi or Pakistani.
Generation after generation the difference becomes blurred. Jason Mohamed for example. He is more Cardiff than Pakistani. There will always be one or two burkha wearers.
My neighbour is outwardly Welsh but her heritage is Irish Caribbean Libyan Welsh and her great uncles was the great Welsh boxer Jimmy Driscoll.

It is but with such large numbers all being put in the same areas assimilation is impossible. Some areas of London and Birmingham are 80-90% BAME. British people are a significant majority in some parts of major towns and cities and Islam becomes the dominant culture. Assimilation is not possible in these circumstances.

As I posted earlier in the thread, the Labour politicians of 1980 predicted that the immigrant population would stabilise at around 3.3.million, and that within a generation or two the majority would have a British "outlook". Look around the large cities and ask if that has happened. JoN is correct.

If anything in those situations British culture will disappear and the culturally British people in those areas will either move away or they themselves will assimilate into the majority culture.
It all goes back to the numbers being far too high. Immigration when done right is a very healthy and fine thing but we haven’t done it right in decades.

You're correct, we're far too dependent on it. Out of choice and necessity.
Somebody posted previously that about 30% of care workers aren't British, but we have over a million economically inactive young people. That's the root cause of the problem.
Should we really expect people who come here because we need them to be here to assimilate?

They can do whatever they like if they work and pay in.
I think the real issue for most people is illegal migrants.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Assimilation will occur and is occuring. The communities produced will be British even English with a slightly different out look and bias. We all have Black and Asian friends in work and study.
Militant Islamists and a small minority. London is already run by a Muslim mayor . A friend of mine who worked in India tells me the y tend to stay close to each other.
Turks are well integrated and often non practicing Muslims. Germany is an example. of 70 years of assimilation. I met some London Turks at the Wales Turkiye game. They supported Turkiye but did not speak any Turkish and were Londoners first and foremost.
The fact remains that the former New Bethel Chapel a shortish walk from where I live does have a rather prominent gold dome, added after the purchase of the old building. There are many mosques in the UK that do have minarets and domes, but it is true that the majority of these are not converted churches. As far as I can see, that can be attributed mainly to current planning regulations, especially regulations that apply to listed buildings.
