I ponder his disappearance also, like that of Kilkennyjack who was on this particular board one day only to then disappear.
He left in disgrace I think after his particularly insensitive comments that the King and Princess Catherine were faking their cancer in order to get sympathy.

Even for him that was beyond the pale.
Self imposed isolation.

A stupid question to you maybe but for what ever reason there's enought beauts on here who think that's ok to enter a country illegally , try joining up the dots because these illegals are part of your "bigger problem" .

A few thousand? Between 2000 and 2025, roughly 1.4 million people (including dependants) claimed asylum in the UK. If we narrow it down to recent irregular arrivals (mainly by boat) claiming asylum from 2018-25 the figure is about 180,000.
I said there is more toxic altruism around than some on the forum say. And we do have a very good football section, with much original insider comment.

Any country allowing illegal criminals and then paying them has real problems Europe decimated by migrants who come from despot countries where life is cheap Question is why some of us are not alarmed Possibly as their milieu hasn’t been affected When it does they will be

That's still only around 25,000 per year. That could be said to be a few thousand. Having said that I don't beleive anyone should really need to claim asylum in the UK if travelling from another safe country such as France.
Visa (or at least regular) immigration has reached nearly 1,000,000 per year in recent years. The necessity for some of those coming to the UK is a problem and the benefits of the others needs to be understood.

The problem isn't primarily the number of asylum claims in a given year but the cumulative number of persons arriving over recent years. That is why Labour's trumpeting of the reduced number arriving this year doesn't satisfy a lot of us. I'd say that all older posters can see the change in the UK, even if some say it isn't a problem.

It’s very simple No illegals should set foot on our soil Refugees too We’ve done our bit with the likes of Hungary , Czechslovakis, Rhodesia and South Africa Time for others we’ve paid our dues

The change in the UK isn't due to the cumulative number of asylum seekers. It is clear, but linked to the influx of non EU migrants post Brexit and increased non EU students.
As you state over the period of 25 years we've accepted 1.4 million asylum seekers, many of those from Hong Kong and Ukraine. Since 2020 we've had up to 1 million immigrants per year arriving to work or study (in the main) - that is where the change in the UK is coming from.
Personally give me a "Polski Sklep" over a Vape shop any day. But those days are gone.

That post contains errors. People from Hong Kong and Ukraine benefited from bespoke humanitarian visa schemes providing "safe and legal routes", and are not counted in the asylum statistics.
Yes, mass migration in all its forms is part of the wider picture, but some of the most egregious examples of criminality and terrorism have involved people entering the UK via the asylum route.
Edit. Forgot to add that although there was an increase in the number of non-EU students after Brexit, one has to take account of what has happened with dependants. According to the ONS non-EU immigrants initially arriving on a study-related visa was 423,000 in the year ending December 2023, falling to 266,000 in 2024. The 2024 reduction was due to a sharp fall in dependants following government restrictions introduced in January 2024.
So I disagree with aspects of your post. Readers can make up their own minds about where the truth lies.

It is also important to remember that a reduction in student visas see's a reduction in revenue for universities and subsidies for UK students. Universities are often the largest private sector employer in areas such as Swansea.
The reduction in immigrant numbers has a cost.
Asylum based immigration has a negligble impact on British "culture" there are too few of them. That's coming from regular migration and is integration in practice.
Of course some immigrants and asylum seekers commit crime, but if you walk through Swansea you'll see most crime is committed by British people, I bet the stats bare that out to. I for one would rather my wife walk down St Helens road thsn through Dyfatty.

When was the last time you walked through Brynmeln, Griffith John has its fair share of of immigrants and asylum seekers committing criminal activities
You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Ah, some objectivity amongst all the noise. I will stick to football though as peoples innate prejudices are clear. The illegals live rent free for sure, but mainly in the heads of those who choose to see them as the key issue in the world today. Education and an Internationalist view would be my angle, I will respect others opinions, I just don't need them wrapped in nationalism or fear. And that is me being polite to some of the bilge and bile I am hearing. Appreciate your post actually, it gives some legitimate food for thought.

look, I accept that is your world view. Until you can convince me it is based on anything other than feelings or emotions I will respectfully choose to hold a different position. until I am clear an opinion is based on anything other than 'life experience' and / or inherent prejudices (we all of them) I will file under thanks for your consideration. I don't come on a football message board to generally engage with the politics of the plain speaker, as a famous comedian once said, 'enjoy your night mate'.

If she wanted to. Our friend wears a niqab, she's not married and it is completely her choice. She claims it's empowering.
Apparently she's stunning, I've never seen her face. She spends a good amount of time with us and it did take some getting used to.
She can claim what she likes MITs religious indoctrination the type many Welsh kids had when Welsh Nonconformism was at its hypocritical peak Any form of religious “ empowerment is a sham
Let me add, I feel equal distain for Orthodox Judaism who also have perverse practices and ensure women adhere to practices laid down on the Torah Jehovahs witnesses , a vicious evil sect of sectionablr clowns who follow their God and how he wants them to love Mormons , a bizarre set who are fanatically faithful to Joseph Smiths practices and the tablets I would not entertain any friendship with any of them
I’ve missed out Seventh day adventists , Christian scientists and Chrisdadeplhians All believe they are right

They’re wrong
But you're considering all Muslims to be the same, they're not, Islam is at least as diverse as branches of Judaism and Christitanity.
I know muslims who have dogs, some who occasionally drink and one who is a gay NHS Dr.
They aren't all adherents to Wahhibism (akin to orthodox judaism) and not all Muslm countries are the same. Wahhibism is practiced in Saudi and Qatar, other forms elsewhere. It's very different to Bosnia and Turkey. All muslim countries practicing and interpreting Islam differntly.
It's a bit like considering Amish to be the blueprint for a Christian society, and assuming Las Vegas would be the same.

You say objectivity when in this poster's follow on post there are two demonstrable errors of fact. Is making untrue statements "objectivity" in your world?
