Don't blame the Managers lads 18:01 - Apr 9 with 896 viewsswancity

Really. You could amalgamate Sir Alf Ramsey, Jock Stein, Bill Shankley, Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho into one and take all of their best attributes and ask them to do well with this squad. And he would fail.

So who is to blame? We all know the answer to that. But it's a lesson to us all. Be thankful for what you have. Look what Brendan Rodgers did with that squad. It was much better than this one but look at the style of football. Look at the incredible achievements of Laudrup and his team. Monk did very well in his only full season, like him or not that's a plain old fashioned fact.

Our Club could be going down the pan almost before our very eyes. Why? Greed. No more no less. We are a Portsmouth waiting to happen but don't blame any of our managers. They've all worked very hard with the hand they were dealt with and include Bradley in that. Curtis will tell you how had that man worked to make our team successful.

Sad isn't it. All in the name of greed. And at a Club that had seen it all before. Who would have thought it eh?

We've had some very inconsistent players for a few seasons now, but this season collectively poor performances from a poor squad have given us the results we have.

Let's be realistic here. Obviously all three of our managers this season have been handicapped by incompetence/stinginess in the boardroom. Our squad was arguably too weak last season, we proceeded to weaken it further whilst others strengthened. That's undoubtedly the major reason our season has turned out the way it has.

That doesn't excuse the managers though. Guidolin was still in the process of working out an effective playing style having had Williams and Ayew taken out of the equation. I thought he should have had more time, but it's hard to dispute the results.

Bradley was an unmitigated disaster.

Clement started very well and found an effective way of playing. He doesn't seem to have a plan B though. If Llorentes injury flares up again we are probably down. You would expect managers at this level to be able to get the best out of their squads, however limited, I'm not sure he can do that without his best players. Even then, if teams set out to contain us, we effectively become a set piece team.

The owners have to take the lions share of the blame, but let's not make that an excuse for some underwhelming management this season.

Agree. With your 1st paragraph.

And the appointment of Bradley was a gamble they didn't need to take though. I recall being at the Player Awards dinner only last May when our chairman was singing the praises of Guidolin. How quickly things can change for the worse at a football club. But let's be fair Bradley was trying to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.

The shambolic sale of our Club, the problems it caused and the way it was prioritised ahead of strengthening our team are to blame and not the three managers all good men who have done their absolute best with the shyte cards they were dealt.

Don't disagree with the anger at our owners at all.

Let's be honest though. The majority of Bradley's reign was pathetic. If Llorente is injured, replaced by Ayew for a few games, we continue to play the same way and look absolutely toothless, then Clement deserves criticism.

Let's not use the 'shoddy owners' excuse to mitigate every time a manager does something wrong.

My next door neighbour isn't a lad, she is very offended and wishes to make a complaint.
