False Hope In Sigurdsson Saga? on 09:25 - Jul 28 with 1389 views | lancasterswan | As someone who wants Sigurdsson to stay I am heartened by this news, though not celebrating yet. £50 million gross, (£40 million net ??) is a lot of money, but the man is integral to us staying up this term and that's worth more than double the selling fee. Everyone is talking about him taking time to catch up after missing America, reintegrating, etc etc which I feel is all rubbish. When they got back from holiday he came out fitter than anyone else in the tests and is well moulded into Clement's tactical plans already and easily bright enough to adapt to anything he might have missed in 10 days. He might even have benefitted from avoiding all the travelling. This is a guy very dangerous from 25 yards out, tactically aware, has a decent pass, is a dead ball specialist and the go-to man for penalties. What really gets up my nose is the confidence the tabloids had in saying it was a done deal in May and June. Signed sealed and delivered at 25 million in May, then the figure went up and up and up. On top of that I have seen plenty of opinion that Sig 'wants' to go to Everton but nothing as a hard quote. As far as I can see, the last thing the man actually said was after the End of Season bash... "I signed a new contract in the summer and I've got three years left, so it's down to the club if they want to sell me. But I was very happy when I was on loan here and then again in the last three years. I'm not trying to leave, I'm not desperate to go or anything. It (speculation) doesn't bother me what people are talking about." So whatever the confidence the Express and all the others have in his 'head being' turned and 'wanting to go' it all seems froth to me. I'll probably get slated again for posting this but I honestly hope I'm not proved wrong.

I'm not sure I buy that to be honest. Not fit enough to play in a pre season friendly, despite playing in one two weeks ago. I'm guessing we are expecting him to move soon
