| New signing from Preston 10:54 - May 5 with 994 views | KeithHaynes | Swansea City have completed the signing of Preston youngster Lincoln McFayden on a free transfer, subject to international clearance. The left-back immediately links up with his new club and will train with the under-23s but won’t be able to feature for Kristian O’Leary’s side until the new campaign. McFayden, who was out of contract this summer at Preston, joins the Swans after a successful trial in which he played two games. He has signed a one-year pro deal, with an option of extending it for another 12 months. “It’s a great opportunity for me. It’s a nice club, the surroundings are great, the training ground is lovely and the coaches are experienced,” said McFayden, who spent just over 10 years with Preston. “The system played here suits me down to the ground. I’m 19 now, so it’s good to have a change. I’m not fazed by the challenge. Moving to Swansea is good for me in terms of football and life skills. “By joining now, it gives me a head start for next season. I’ve got to know the lads and they’ve given me such a nice welcome. “The trial went well and I’m delighted to have signed for Swansea. “The trial gave me a chance to see how the team played, my general feeling of the club, and vice versa. So it was a perfect fit for both parties.” McFayden joins the Swans with a view of progressing through the ranks and into Steve Cooper’s first-team plans, following the likes of Connor Roberts, Ben Cabango, Liam Cullen, Brandon Cooper and Ollie Cooper. And he said the success of those players, and the willingness of first-team boss Cooper to give them an opportunity, was key to his decision to leave Lancashire for the Liberty. “It’s important these days to see there is a route to the first team,” said McFayden. “A head coach who gives youngsters an opportunity is so important, and that’s what has happened here. It’s very encouraging to young players. You don’t want to get lost in the under-23s. “Hopefully I can make an impact in the under-23s and get an opportunity down the line with the first team.” | |

Another left sided player.Another left back. Personally,I d rather a striker and one who is ready to go and not prone to be blown over by a Force 4 breeze.

I'd be surprised if the Club weren't actively looking to upgrade on the attacking front.

Yes we need to upgrade in several areas particularly with loans returning to parent clubs. But surly most incoming players will depend on what league we are in next season.

One report said he had been released "last summer". I read that as Summer 2020. I suspect it is this summer. One player they released last year is one of Blackburns best performers at 20. Tyreece Dolan. On the other hand Swansea could have done with Ched Evans on a short team deal.
