Can’t imagine what would happen if the ever increasing support for VOX were in power.

So many low flying helicopters flying over south Andalucia tonight.

And yet,our troops and Police get slaughtered for the merest hands on action .

NO country is refugee/immigrant friendly. Let's lay that lie once and for all.

It is fashionable to be seen to be "humanitarian" so long as it doesn't affect the individual.

Make you wonder why Spain wants colonies in Africa as once migrants are in Ceuta they are in the EU and have the right of free movement throughout the EU.

Maybe they should show the same attitude to Ceuta that they do to Gibraltar, just give it back. They accused the UK of colonialism but look what they're doing!

That story, in one picture a Police officer is rescuing a baby, in another a soldier looks about to whip an immigrant who's back is turned.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Gibraltar is an independent overseas territory who wish to remain independent. They voted by 99% not to be part of Spain.

I know but Spain keep going on about Gib and that we should give it back, they called us colonialist yet look at them!

Argentina are the same, they call us colonialist when all they want is land outside their territorial waters to be theirs. It's hypocrisy.

The history of Gibraltar is fascinating it was under Moorish rule for 750 years, under British rule 300 years and Spanish rule for 250 years. Makes you wonder who has the best claim to it.

Maybe being independent is best.

I think you need to modify your statement a bit.
NO country is refugee or illegal immigrant friendly indefinitely.

Even Germany that uses immigrants as cheap labour to do the jobs their own citizens don't want to do (much like we used eu temporary migrants for farming) had to stop welcoming elligal migrants when they had too many to cope with.

It was ceded to us by treaty after our military (with some help from the Dutch kicked Spain out. I reckon Spain do have the best claim purely based on Geography. They should give Ceuta back to Morocco, there's lots of overseas territories still held by former colonial powers, they should all be returned or at the very least the residents should be allowed a referendum. Unless of course they are not claimed or wanted by another country or lie well outside their legal boundaries and they never owned or occupied them.

Correct it was ceded to the UK in perpetuity. Spain did get some redress we captured menorca from the French and gave it Spain in return for keeping Gibraltar.

You are of course wrong, as history has proved.
The USA has welcomed cheap Mexican labour for decades, Germany has been dependent on cheap migrant labour (mostly Turks) for their industry for decades.
The people may not like it but they of course don't count.

They also voted in massive numbers to remain. Which tickled Spain a bit when the U.K. voted leave.

Good job they stayed as an overseas territory. Their vaccination rate is the highest in the World with 2.2 vaccines being administered per registered citizens. Their vaccines were supplied by the UK. They would still be waiting if they were part of the UK.

For those of you wondering why their vaccination rate is over 2 per person it is because they have vaccinated British citizens deployed in Gibraltar as well as Spanish citizens who cross thr border daily to work in Gibraltar.

Seventeen thousand a day cross the border from la Linea to Gibraltar, doubling the adult population. Some walk for miles every day to do so. There was a political party two years ago who said they were going to block the border to prevent Spanish / UK relations remaining friendly within the area.
The leader disappearEd overnight, seriously he has never been seen since. In recent times the Russians have tried to infiltrate the area to progress their criminal enterprises, same result. The coast around La Linea relies upon Gibraltar and the far better wages there to survive.

Long time lurker on these boards but I'll chip in. I do that crossing every day from La Linea to Gib. As you probably know Keith, La Linea is on its knees. The government has pretty much neglected it, just last week there were riots when a couple of drug smugglers drowned off the coast when their rib broke down. La Linea absolutely depends on the wages from Gib, when the VOX party started kicking off (again) about Gib the local VOX candidate told them to do one and resigned. Relations between Gib and its nearby populace is pretty good, especially as any frontier worker has now been fully vaccinated.

It also has to be said the Gib kept paying the wages of Spanish frontier workers during the lockdown, you won't find many Spanish people in Gib having bad word about the place.

Actually you are clearly wrong or why did republicans love Trump for building that wall? There are always limits that people will accept, for everything

Germany has also had issues with immigration,

https://www.euractiv.com/secti

The people not liking it was the point, for a country to entirely accept immigrants etc, then absolutely everybody has to accept it and not just politicians and businesses that want cheap labour.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Which is why if you look at my first comment I said "NO country is refugee or illegal immigrant friendly indefinitely"

Democrats via Biden's Executive order have reversed what Trump did, they don't care what the people think or want.
They must want their cheap labour, drugs and "unaccompanied" children, otherwise they would have left what Trump did alone.
