With the news that there may well be a level playing field in regards to multinational companies paying tax.

I hope the G7 makes it happen. The sooner the world stops corporate greed from avoiding tax the better.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

It’s good news that they are moving this forward, I’d also like to see them close the loopholes in respect of the tax havens like Caribbean Islands etc and Panama. Not sure it will happen, but it’s got to be worth pursuing.

Britain’s overseas territories have topped a list of the world’s most significant tax havens ahead of Switzerland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, according to the campaign group Tax Justice Network.

The British Virgin Islands were ranked as the “greatest enabler of corporate tax abuse”, with the Cayman Islands in second place and Bermuda third.

🤷‍♂️

Yes mun - i dont want to disappoint.

Healthier for you to think about other things perhaps, but others can decide on that one.

You are right about the transformation of the Republic though, having your own hands of the levers of power works. Thats why many people now want annibyniaeth for Cymru.

Thanks for pointing it out and giving me the platform to highlight the importance.

Laws to prevent multi national companies off shoreing their profits from the countries they earn the profits to countries they barely trade in is long overdue. Will be a big hit to the GDPs of EU countries like luxembourg and ROI.

The UK is the top for money laundering.

Thats what Brexit was really about after all.

See my post above.

As the largest English speaking state in the EU then Irelands future prosperity is assured.
Biden will assist of course.

Meanwhile on Brexidiot island, Liz Truss does a trade deal with Barry Island ....

Why are they still speaking a foreign language in the ROI. You think they would make everyone Speak Irish, French, Spanish, or German being the EU.

I think you need to read this as a matter of urgency, Killy.

I don't but I reckon he's definitely not Tucker Carlson. Though quite possibly both books will have a lot about rich people and corruption?

Its because the loving English of old forced it upon them.
Its shameful.

For Irish, see Welsh.

They have been independent for 100 years. ROI could easily have reintroduced tye Irish language but prefer to keep English as their working language.

Israel decided to reintroduce Hebrew when they gained independence 70 years ago which is an more obscure language.

Well if and when the " Ireland 2040 — Our Plan" becomes factual then the Irish language will die , with a plan of raising the population by a million by 2040 ( not even a good catholic can bump up those figures) so its mass immigration that will dilute the language even further

Just checking.

In my opinion if you emigrate somewhere (whatever the reason) learning the local language is the right thing to do. When we go abroad I try to learn at least enough to be able to make a basic request and say please and thank you, if I was going to Greece to live permanently I would try to learn Greek.
Saying that though, seeing as English is by far the majority language used in Wales I don't see many trying to learn Welsh apart from if they have kids and obviously now Welsh lessons are compulsory.
On the ROI language thing, they don't seem obsessed with forcing an ancient language on their citizens, are they more forward thinking?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Part of the reason for the demise of the last DUP leader’s demise was a Gaelic Language Act, the Unionists have as part of the power sharing etc agreed to a Gaelic Language Act, but when push came to shove they weren’t happy and refused to legislate in the short term. SinnFein weren’t happy re lack of legislation and having spoken to the NI Minister who will introduce the legislation later this year if SF/DUP can’t get it agreed between them. It’s Stormont breaks down and there’s an election, it’s highly likely SF will have the bulk of the seats and the First Minister post (or whatever it’s called out there).
