Here's how the IPL works, it will be similar but scaled down, but you can see how the top players may get £250K for three weekends as opposed to millions in the IPL.

It seems that one of the problems with regional (proper) rugby in Wales has been getting bums on seats. As much as anything to do with fan identification with the 'clubs'. I cannot see this competition attracting many spectators for the same reason. It will probably be just a TV extravaganza.
