| Polio Vaccine 10:48 - Oct 5 with 856 views | RonaldStump | Did it really get rid of Polio? Nearly all of these environmental exposures (DDT, arsenicals, tonsillectomies, toxic sugar and flour bleaches) were either banned or drastically curtailed at the end of the 1960s. this, rather than vaccination, was the primary reason for the so-called eradication of polio in 1979 Can you prove otherwise in a constructive manner?? | |

Polio is transmitted by dirty water. How many ppl today in the western world drink contaminated water or swim in dirty rivers. Once again, improved hygiene and living conditions have eradicated most diseases more so than vaccines.

Yes plenty of scientific evidence to prove vaccines work, measles, mumps, rubella, smallpox, polio, coronavirus, cervical Cancer, to name but a few.

Strange how people in the UK got polio in the 40s, 50s, and 60s despite the UK having access to clean water since victorian times. Only eradicated after mass vaccination introduced. I will agree that cholrea was stopped once the UK had a sewerage system and separate drinking water supply. Again a triumph for Victorian scientists and engineers.

The vast majority of polio cases were very mild. Many were still swimming in lakes and rivers as well, because there weren't many swimming pools available

I don't think you need to be professor to work out how good vaccines have been for mankind, half a functioning brain should be able to do it. [Post edited 5 Oct 2021 19:45]

Because of widespread vaccination, polio was eliminated from the Western Hemisphere in 1994. In 2016, it continues to circulate in just Afghanistan and Pakistan, with occasional spread to neighboring countries. Vigorous vaccination programs are being conducted to eliminate these last pockets. Polio vaccination is still recommended worldwide because of the risk of imported cases, not because everyone has access to clean drinking water ( not that they do )

Honestly where do you get your information from " Though most people recovered quickly from polio, some suffered temporary or permanent paralysis and even death. Many polio survivors were disabled for life. They were a visible, painful reminder to society of the enormous toll this disease took on young lives " .

Wild polio no longer exists, but there are cases from older vaccines which have reverted to virulent forms and circulate causing infection . There are still a few hundred cases, but the problems pre-vaccination were extensive
