Prepare to back track over the next year or two. Some players simply start improving rapidly at 23. He is fast, rangey, getting stronger versatile and adaptable. He can dribble and beat players and is cool in the box. He can mix it will league 1 and 2 hard nuts. Three thing were holding him back. 1) Resilience. He would get injured too often. This appears sorted. he is now more resilient. 2) Heading ability. He has played many times at wing back so should have been tested out. Lower league manager will demand commitment. 3) Physical strength. He has bulked up a little and can mix it as you would expect with a former Rugby league player. So he is a 23 yer old Jamaican athlete. He left Swansea fast, energetic good ball control but prone to muscle injuries and indiscipline perhaps. (the punch v Luton). On loan he is improving his heading, strength and defending and now is scoring goals. 5 in 18. No injuries no sending offs but the odd tactical booking perhaps. The main thing is that the manager trusts him every weak. What is not to like. CR17 mark 2. ?

I see real potential in Garrick provided he can remain fit and continues to develop physically, technically and mentally. Easy to right off youngsters too soon. We've all done it. Georgio Chinaglia springs to mind.

No need to back track just about being humble when you have something wrong. As it stands I stand by it. I humbly hope I’m wrong.

I have given a logical dissection of why you might be wrong However this is football and Garrick is a young man with distractions in a sea faring town. Logic often counts for nowt.

I think his main issue is he has been played in such a variety of positions he hasn’t found his place in a starting eleven. Maybe now ?

I think the wing back position played in our system in the Laird role may suit him well. Time will tell.

I think that’s the issue as he’s up front for Plymouth.

I wouldn’t describe Giorgio Chinaglia as a youngster personally.

As I mentioned in a previous thread I would love to see what Russell Martin could bring to Garrick's game. His coaching and our style of play could benefit Jordan Garrick greatly and he could turn out to be a real gem. To reiterate provided the lad can avoid injury - only time will tell.

Change of tact, went in to a restaurant ten years or so ago in Sorrento. Had a small swans badge on my jumper. Spotted by the waiter, didn’t buy a drink all night. Thank you Giorgio.

Been the definition of a squad player, 6 starts in 3 different positions. Played the full 90 minutes once. Jordon's a good lad and I wish him well but I don't see it in him at our level. He's no defender, and Kyle Joseph's the better striker prospect. Will be 24 by the time he comes back to us, players have usually found their peak by then.

You are too harsh. He gets game time once or twice a week and always features. 5 goals in 18 games is decent. He only had 14 games before Swindon. He is bigger faster and stronger than Cullen and Joseph and has outscored both of them this season. His versatility counts both for an against him. Being versatile often leads to a place on the bench. I only saw him play wing back once last season at Stevenage and he looked the part and provided a very nice assist for Goykeres who did not get any assists of anybody else. Goykeres is another seen as not up to the Swansea specifications on a little over 14 not whole appearances.
