He lost control for me, Rhodri could well have been shown a red after first taking his shirt off [stupid law in my opinion] and then running straight at the Arsenal fans, which could have been seen as enticement, Arsenal will probably be fined because of the fans reaction, instigated by Rhodri. | |

I thought he did well enough. It's not his fault that the VAR decided not to recommend he take a look at Ederson's foul on the monitor.
If Martin Keown was not so absurdly biased during his commentatory, Atwell's decisions wouldn't be deemed the least bit controversial.
There should be punishments for when commentators try to influence the watching public as blatantly as Keown tried today. |  |

I watched it and couldn't believe some of the commentary, including when one of them said the ref should never change his decision, he didn't say ditch VAR but simply that refs should be stronger and stick to their decision.
As much of a mess as they've made of VAR it could still improve the game. For instance, if it's there for clear and obvious mistakes it should stop calling a player offside if his overgrown toenail is sticking out a tad too far.

All the commentary focussed on VAR instead of a decent pulsating game. Arsenal has been one of the few teams to have a go at Citeh, rather than sit back with 10men behind the ball like most other teams in the PL. Arsenal deserved something out of the game but hey ho

I think it’s clear from this thread it wasn’t a clear & obvious mistake by Atwell so VAR got it right.
