If they went for £100m, what does that make us worth? 40 - 50 million?

Half the price of Burnley, although the Burnley deal looks to be a shambles
0
Soton bought on 22:24 - Jan 4 with 1010 viewsReslovenSwan1

Surprisingly low price. Distressed Chinese seller perhaps. It could be £100m for 80% with the overall price £120m perhaps. There is also the issue of incorporating debt. If Southampton had loans of £80m to pay off for example this would be the same as Burnley £200m but no debt.

Coincidentally this is what Kevin McGuire just put out on Twitter. He seems to be the "go to" man on these matters.

KM said ""Total value of Southampton is £100m for 80% of the shares gives £125m for 100% of the shares plus taking on the debt of about £80m to give total value of club at about £205m"".

No doubt in 2016 there were people in the lower leagues looking at us being bought and wishing it were them.

Sadly there will always be these types of people around. Feckless idiots lacking even basic self respect and happy to see us passed around wealthy people like a high class whore as long as they kept promising to spend a few bob on a striker.

Using transfermarkt as a guide Southampton valued a £205 million but sold for £100 million.
Swans £36 million.
At the time the US shareholder bought in the club's full share cost would have been £100 million it was valued at £100 million.
We don't own land or the stadium so our value is only in our player.
It should indicate to all but the terminal conspiracy theorists that the US share value is now only worth around £22 million. So much for asset stripping.

The only way the current lot make any money is if they get us back in the Premier league & then sell

and that means us winning games and collecting points rather than passing stats.
Chris Wilder was suggested by me as a putative manager but that was ridiculed.

Look at Boro now. Wilder is no mug .

Absolutely we need to.
Wilder looked like he was going to West Brom & also talked to other clubs before he ended up at Boro, I don't think he was interested in relocating to Wales somehow.
No question he'd have done a good job though.
Probably would have wanted a big salary but then again we wouldn't have had to fork out the compo...

Thanks.
It does make one wonder Grab as to why we put our club into the hands of nineties like Martin who have achieved nothing at all but are so full of BS and self importance .
Martin would make a decent salesman and I d have have probably given him a job myself when I worked .

We needed a steady hand and we got Potter,Cooper and now Russy.

At least Potter did have success in Sweden

Wilder wants to work with clubs prepared to go into big debt to its owners. Swansea are 21% fan owned and they through design have no money and not want to be diluted or invest. Middlesborough's owners have probably written off £50M plus.

Swansea work sustainably and will get back to the PL when the star realign and with shovel full of luck.

This is not exactly true but probably true. The US owners could get their money back by paying themselves dividends. This would be the ideal solution for the SCST who probably wanted dividend payments in the past.

This would be achieved by selling a good player every season and trying to keep wages low. transfer fees would be a no no. Piroe and Patterson came for £1m. Naturally the club would need to be close to break even and playing Brandon Cooper, Garrick, Ollie Cooper and Benda, No expensive veterans like Bennett Naugton and Hamer.

The value of the club was £100m so a annual dividend of 5% per annum would cost £5m. This would see £3.5m go to the US people and £1m to the SCST to keep them happy.

Ten years of this would see £35m in the US bank accounts and £10m in the SCST accounts. After 10 years the club might get back to the PL but if not even in the Championship it could be worth £50m through inflation. This values the US holding at £34.5m and the SCST at £10.5m. Selling at that level to a local consortium and SCST would see them break even and move on. £35m + £34.5m = £69.5m.

From Middlesboroughs accounts as reported by Teeside online.

{"The accounts also again reveal the importance of the owner’s financial support.]

[They state: “The going concern basis of the company depends on the support from the Gibson O’Neill Company Limited, the ultimate parent undertaking, who will continue to provide that support, if required, to the company for the foreseeable future].

Plenty of great players tanked as managers.
I only included Monk because of out borefest 14/@5 finishing place.

Good players don't often make good managers so it was a bit of a gamble by the Club

Not disputing that Boundy. I well remember Bobby Charlton..
I admit to having a mancrush on Paolo. He signed a Book of my life that my family had compiled for my 60th.
