| It's truly shocking on 09:56 - Feb 10 with 685 views | Catullus | Yes we should. We took good people from their homes, sent them to fight and then we treated them with contempt. I can picture a posh white bloke in Whitehall saying, we can forget paying the nignogs, why do they need money, they probably don't even understand it. Such was the state of this country in the 40' and 50's and still today we see people from other countries treated with contempt by civil servants and politicians who probably went to posh schools. Pa Sorie deserved better, they all deserved better. | |

Over 2.5 million from the Indian subcontinent fought in Asia, Africa and Europe in WW2 and of course Nepalese Gurkhas continue to serve. Close to 90,000 Indian, Pakistani and Deshi serviceman died. The lack of respect is huge.

As well as within the British and Commonwealth forces, it's also worth noting that the then Abyssinians (now Ethiopia and Eritrean) fought alongside the British to defeat the Italian invaders in East Africa. And yes, people claiming to be patriots would happily see Africans drowning.

I would happily see our government do more to prevent people risking and losing their lives to get here, people smugglers need dealing with. The world could be a much better place but we are all too busy screwing each other over.

There's nothing we can do to prevent ppl crossing the channel in desperation, apart from not interfering in other countries and creating refugees

Well, we could try actually doing something real to help so people would stay in their own countries. All through history all we have done is cause more problems and yes, generate increasing numbers of refugees. Most of the time, when governments turn up in foreign countries allthey have really done is exploit. We are reaping what was sown.

It's quite nice in Skewen, well my bit is anyway! A large park, and Tennant park also nearby. A fair sized garden and my neighbours are good too. What I really don't understand is why so many refugees seem to want to live in London, Birmingham or Manchester!
