And it would have to be a princely sum. Not 8 or 10 million.

That's the crunch of it though, club has sold good players on the cheap in the last few windows, if 6/8 or 10mill offer comes in for any player, they'll be biting the buyers hands off, only hope for a better deal is if there's a bidding war between clubs. [Post edited 10 Apr 2022 13:45]

Apparently Rodon was sold on the cheap, I really don’t think he was, James, McBurnie too big fees. I do struggle with that concept mate.

£15-£20m and he'd be off like a shot. Far from certain that anyone would offer that though. Player departures in the summer are a fact of life for a club our size. What matters most is how they are replaced. We've done a pretty good job of that lately. Brentford sold big every close season for several years but still managed to build a promotion winning squad. Develop players. Sell one for a big fee every summer. Reinvest in players who we can make look good because they suit the way we want to play.

Agreed. We've gotten good money for everyone who has gone out the door since Sigurdsson. People keep going on about the Rodon price because we didn't sell for their fantasy valuation. He'd never played a minute in the Premier League. £15m top end was a good deal. Three times what we paid for a similar player in Alfie Mawson. We're long past the point of Huw Jenkins getting his trousers pulled down in every negotiation he entered into. Daniel Levy could see him coming from miles away. [Post edited 10 Apr 2022 13:53]

Connor was cheap, Jordan Ayew was sold cheaply, like I said I think its down to the clubs in the market for those players, more clubs the higher the fee to get them, I realise the club has to balance the books. etc

I think we could maybe spread our net a bit wider now that the Virus has settled down and places and most countries have opened up again.

Absolutely. It's still true that you can generally get better value for money shopping abroad. We should be scouring the European Leagues for players who can suit our style.

Connor was surprising I’ll give you that. Jamal Lowe as well a bit low scuse the pun, but they were clearly moved on for better players. Downes a no brainer and Obafemi who thankfully has come good.

Myth watch. Swansea Spurs negotiations have been great in my view. Kyle Naughton £5m. A great buy and still doing the business after 250 games. Gylfi Siggurdson bought £8m sold £40m+ . A sensational piece of business. Llorente bought for £5m sold for £12m at 32 years of age. Great business. (Abramovich no less choked at that price Levi paid as the player was wanted by Conte) Joe Rodon £11m rising to £15m. Good business in a deflated market. Neither Conte nor Mourhino want to pay the extra £4m for the player who continues to play well for Wales. Swansea replaced him with an in house academy player Cabango. Good business when money was tight. Ben Davies £8m or so. A reasonable deal at the time but now seen as low. A player from the academy good enough to play for Laudrup and feature in a Champions league final. A Wales stalwart. Tom Carroll. £5m. Yes a disappointing signing due to injuries. Had his body held up he had the technical ability and professionalism. Michel Vorm. His days were numbered with Fabianski on the way. Keep telling Levy he is a genius and lets keep Swansea doing business with him. Levy has been great for Swansea city. Theoretically I can see the temptation to see the local 'failed roofer' getting the wrong end of the deal from a London property magnet from a certain well know trading community but under close inspection it does not stand up. Huw Jenkins is sadly hugely under rated by the fan base. The concept he and others deceived the fans group over the sale has not stood the test of time. The people that prepared the case have disappeared into the early morning mists of the Tawe valley. Their efforts to enrich London speculators to the tune of £10m with the support of the clueless members failed. [Post edited 10 Apr 2022 15:32]

I think the only thing which will unsettle Piroe is the size of the club, he won’t have his head turned by say Norwich, but there are plenty of of premier league clubs I’m sure who would fancy him. As we had in our news section last year Leicester City as an example. I just hope we can keep them all and add four more.

That’s essentially what Brentford did. Find an average league and identify players at smaller clubs who were standing out. Benramha was at a third division French team. Mbuemo from Troyes. They got quite a few from the danish leagues.

Yep. The talent is out there for the right price if you put the work in to find them.

Just because some of the dealings with one particular club turned out to be decent doesn't mean that fans are wrong for criticising the transfer policy of Jenkins. Which let's face it was atrocious for the few years prior to us getting relegated and has lead to a huge financial burden that the club is still recovering from. What any of this has to do with the legal case I have no idea but you've been disingenuous on that front too. Jenkins and the sellouts settled. They admitted guilt by doing so. And the only reason it wasn't a judge deciding their punishment is because they probably made it clear that will simply stall and therefore be able to outspend the trust. So don't get all proud about their conduct. It's shameful. As is the system.

I’m hoping a Premier team isn’t going to take a risk on a young lad with one good season behind him and I’m hoping he’s savvy enough to realise he will be sat on the bench at best in any decent prem club. Another season with us, if we go up, he will be established and more likely to start
| The balance that the Swansea City ownership have to find this summer on 16:35 - Apr 10 with 916 views | Flynnidine_Zidownes | I would happily offload Ntcham too if a bid came in. He’s been here 9 months and still can’t do ninety minutes apparently. | | | |
| The balance that the Swansea City ownership have to find this summer on 16:37 - Apr 10 with 911 views | Chief | On topic though..... If the likes of Piroe / Downes are happy to stay and not join Fulham / Brentford etc and the bid isn't incredible and unturndownable, there's probably other parts of the squad where money could be saved / brought in. Besides contract expiries, (Not sure if Hamer signed a new contract but) we could probably get something for Benda in the summer, as well as Whittaker, Cullen, Garrick etc. But also big savings to be had if someone would take Bennett and Ntcham could be another I'd sacrifice. | |

| The balance that the Swansea City ownership have to find this summer on 17:15 - Apr 10 with 885 views | glanmORJa_k | With owners like we possess we are a club that is always going to be a selling club for manager or players, and the problem is always going to be sourcing replacements. Never forget the damage a player's agent does with respect to his clients, and don't forget the only time in the year when they get paid - the transfer windows opening. Selling a 20 goal plus striker in the Championship should be a minimum of £10M plus add-ons, that would enable us to bring in a couple of players in the lower leagues or or on the continent. That's where the club stands, and has stood for a few years, even with parachute payment. | | | |
